【摘要】:社会的飞速发展促使新生事物层出不穷。体现在语言上,就是大量新词新语的应运而生。汉语新词承载了一定的当代社会内涵和中国文化特色,己成为语言研究领域的重要研究对象,虽然汉语新词翻译工作也引起了翻译界学者的广泛关注,取得巨大成绩,但仍存在着诸多问题,如误译,机械直译,胡译,文化漏译等。究其原因,主要是因为缺乏科学有效的理论指导,忽视了汉语新词翻译与其目的之间的联系。针对以上问题,本研究在翻译功能目的论的指导下,重新梳理研究大量翻译实例,总结出汉语新词英译应遵循的两个主要目的:一是让译文符合目的语读者的语言习惯,使其更好地理解译文所传达的内容;二是使译文保留中国特色,传播特色中国文化。鉴于此目的,汉语新词英译的实践需要遵循翻译三原则:内涵准确性原则,目的语习惯性原则和读者接受性原则。结合翻译目的与翻译原则,作者又提出工具型翻译策略和文献型翻译策略。对于目的一,工具型翻译策略比较合适,包括等功能翻译和异功能翻译。对于目的二,文献型翻译策略应首先被考虑,大体包括逐词翻译,直译,直译加注释和异化翻译。翻译目的决定翻译方法策略。通过研究发现如果译者倾向于传播中国当今文化,文献型翻译策略可以从保留新词形式,内容或情景角度来实现宣传源语言文化特色的目的。但如果译者注重目的语读者对译文的理解力和接受力,就应采取工具型翻译策略。因此,作者总结出功能目的论能够有效地科学地指导汉语新词的英译,为类似的翻译实践提供了新的理论视角,将为翻译工作者进一步提供借鉴。
