新闻发布会中英语委婉语的语用研究

委婉语是人类交际中一种普遍的语言现象,也是人类为了达到理想的交际结果而使用的一种语言策略。目前,英语委婉语的起源被普遍的归结于宗教中的禁忌语,这些宗教禁忌语进一步发展成为交际中粗俗、生硬表达方式的替代语,它们几乎存在于人类社会中的各各方面,因此,委婉语不仅是一种语言学现象,同时也是一种社会现象。这一现象引起了中外很多语言学家以及社会学家的浓厚兴趣,他们从修辞学、社会学、语用学等多方面对英语委婉语的定义、特点、使用等进行深入和系统的研究。尽管对英语委婉语的相关研究并不少,但这些研究大多集中于修辞、语义和词典编纂等几方面,很少有人对像新闻发布会这样特定语言环境下使用的委婉语进行深入研究。 新闻发布会是各国政府为直接向新闻界以及公众发布消息,解释重大事件而举办的活动。语言是新闻发布会的重要载体之一,同时也是新闻发言人、政治家或外交官等用来捍卫自身以及国家利益的有力工具。政府举办的新闻发布会中通常会涉及到政治、军事、外交等敏感问题,而发言者的语言运用将会直接影响一个国家的形象及利益。在这种语境下,发言者经常会采用含蓄、婉转的委婉语作为他们的语言策略,从而避免在处理敏感话题时使用刺激性语言。因...
