救赎的力量——论《大主教之死》的审美救赎

【摘要】：在地域小说《大主教之死》中,薇拉·凯瑟通过表现土著印第安人解放自然的观念以及凸显他们的"新感性"特质和印第安艺术的"光韵",展现出印第安文化具有治愈现代文明痼疾和挽救现代性危机的救赎力量,诠释了文学艺术担纲的审美救赎之职。审美救赎是凯瑟打破资本主义社会"铁笼"的策略,旨在纠正启蒙现代性的过激发展带给现代文明的负面影响,以期建立一种人与社会、自然与文明、感性与理性平衡发展的理想生存范式。这些艺术构想不仅与启蒙现代性的价值观相互抵牾和抗衡,还是凯瑟在想象世界中探求救赎现代性之策的最佳脚注,进而表明她的地域书写以一种超越传统与现代、地域与国家、本土与全球相互对峙的创作姿态,介入社会现实和反思人类文明的出路。
[Abstract]:In the Regional novel the death of the Archbishop, Vera Cather expresses the indigenous Indians' concept of liberating nature and highlights their "new sensibility" and the "light rhyme" of Indian art. It shows that Indian culture has the redeeming power to cure the chronic disease of modern civilization and to save the crisis of modernity, and interprets the aesthetic redemption duty of literature and art. Aesthetic redemption is Cather's strategy to break the "iron cage" of capitalist society, aimed at correcting the negative influence of the excessive development of enlightenment modernity on modern civilization, in order to establish a kind of human and society, nature and civilization. The ideal survival paradigm of balanced development of sensibility and rationality. These artistic ideas not only contradict and counteract each other with the values of enlightenment modernity, but also the best footnotes of Cather's quest for redemption of modernity in the imaginary world, and then show that her regional writing transcends tradition and modernity. Regional and national, local and global mutually confrontational creative posture, intervene in social reality and reflect on the way out of human civilization.
