【摘要】：从古至今,英国文学家们从来没有停止过对印度的探索和想象。1907年的诺贝尔文学奖的获得者约瑟夫·鲁德亚德·吉卜林便是其中占有重要地位的一员,他以杰出的叙事才能、新颖的想象力为英国读者创作了一系列以神秘而遥远的印度为题材的短篇小说。这些短篇小说充满了东方印度的异国情调,艺术性地描述出了在印度生活的英国殖民者以及印度本土居民的生活画卷。在他的笔下呈现出一个丰富多彩、复杂多样而又引人注目的印度形象。本论文采用文本分析与理论概括相结合的研究方法,以吉卜林的印度题材小说为主要的研究对象,借鉴比较文学形象学、后殖民主义理论等,对吉卜林小说中所构建的印度形象展开系统性地研究、考察。本文由五章组成。第一章是引言。第二章考察20世纪前的英国文学家们书写的印度形象。第三章、第四章以文本分析为主,从印度社会形象、印度人形象入手对吉卜林构建的印度形象进行系统而又详细的考察。第五章从分析吉卜林小说中印度形象建构的功能、语境、心理机制入手,对吉卜林所构建的印度形象进行深层次的审视和评价。本文希望在前人研究的基础上,从形象学的理论视角对吉卜林书写的印度形象进行整体性的观照和深入的研究。本文以形象学理论为基础,将文本内部研究和文本外部研究相结合,对吉卜林建构的印度形象从文学审美和历史文化语境两个方面展开具体分析和理论阐释,期望由此能够有助于我们更加深入地理解吉卜林的作品中呈现出的审美性和意识形态性之间错综复杂的关系。
[Abstract]:Since ancient times, British writers have never stopped exploring and imagining India. Joseph Rudyard Kipling, the winner of the 1907 Nobel Prize for Literature, was one of the most important among them. The novel imagination created a series of short stories about mysterious and distant India for British readers. These short stories are filled with the exotic atmosphere of Eastern India and artistically describe the life of the British colonists and native Indians living in India. In his works, he presents a colorful, complex and diverse and eye-catching image of India. This thesis adopts the research method of combining text analysis and theoretical generalization, taking Kipling's novels of India as the main research object, drawing lessons from comparative literature image theory, post-colonialism theory and so on. This paper systematically studies the image of India in Kipling's novels. This paper consists of five chapters. The first chapter is the introduction. The second chapter examines the image of India written by British writers before the 20 th century. The third chapter, the fourth chapter focuses on text analysis, from the image of India, Indian image of India to build a systematic and detailed investigation of the image of Kipling. Chapter five analyzes the function, context and psychological mechanism of Indian image construction in Kipling's novels. On the basis of previous studies, this paper attempts to make a holistic and in-depth study of Kipling's Indian image from the perspective of imageology. Based on the theory of imageology, this paper combines the internal study of text with the external study of text, and makes a concrete analysis and theoretical interpretation of Kipling's image of India from the aspects of literary aesthetics and historical and cultural context. It is expected that this will help us to understand more deeply the intricate relationship between aesthetics and ideology in Kipling's works.
