【摘要】：作为加拿大华裔英语作家,崔维新在加拿大文坛上成绩斐然。他的成名作《玉牡丹》及其续篇《所有一切重要的事》自出版后广受欢迎,获奖颇丰。两篇小说皆以20世纪30年代至40年代的温哥华唐人街为背景,从不同视角追忆了以陈姓家庭为代表的中国移民的艰苦求生历程。《玉牡丹》以讲述陈家孩子祝良、忠心以及石龙的成长经历展开。《所有一切重要的事》则以长子谦的奋斗再现了加拿大华裔的异国生活。本论文以爱德华·赛义德东方主义理论中的“他者”概念为理论基础,探索崔维新小说从哪些方面打破加拿大社会对华人族群东方主义式的看法,解构加拿大华裔负面形象与重新构建中国文化。本论文分别探讨了加拿大社会对华人及其文化的负面描述,崔维新对加拿大华裔他者形象的解构过程以及对中国传统文化的重新书写。西方对东方长期存在的歧视与偏见让加拿大华裔及其文化被他者化,不为主流文化所接纳,直接威胁了他们在加拿大社会的生存。在《玉牡丹》与《所有一切重要的事》中,一方面,崔维新构建了众多积极的华裔形象;另一方面,他重写了真实的中国传统文化。最后得出结论,解构加拿大华裔他者形象与重写中国文化,有利于消减加拿大社会对华人的曲解,帮助他们在加拿大主流社会获取宽松的生存空间。
[Abstract]:As a Canadian Chinese English writer, Cui Weixin has made great achievements in the Canadian literary world. His fame as the "jade peony" and its sequel "all things" since the publication of popular, winning a lot. The two novels are from 1930s to 40s in Vancouver Chinatown as the background, from different perspectives to recall Chen family as the representative of the China immigrants struggling course. "Jade peony" is based on the experience of the growth of the children of Chen family, Zhu Liang, loyalty and Shilong. "All the important things" reproduces the exotic life of the Canadian Chinese with the modest struggle of the eldest son. This thesis is based on Edward Said theory of Orientalism in the "other" concept as the theoretical basis, to explore Cui Weixin's novels from the aspects of breaking Canadian society views on ethnic Chinese Orientalist, deconstruction and re build the negative image of Chinese Canadian culture China. This paper discusses Canadian society's negative description of Chinese and their culture, Cui Weixin's Deconstruction of Canadian Chinese otherness and the rewriting of Chinese traditional culture. The long existence of discrimination and Prejudice in the West has made Canadian Chinese and their culture being otherless, not accepted by mainstream culture, directly threatening their existence in Canadian society. In "jade peony" and "all important things", on the one hand, Cui Weixin built many positive images of Chinese Americans; on the other hand, he rewrote the real Chinese traditional culture. Finally, it is concluded that the deconstruction of Canadian Canadian images and rewriting of Chinese culture will help to reduce the misunderstanding of Chinese in Canadian society and help them to get loose living space in the mainstream Canadian society.
