基于语料库的中国英语专业学习者“心理类”动词行为的研究

【摘要】:"心理类"动词是动词的重要类别,用来表征人的心理状态或变化,在日常生活中有着较高的使用频率。本研究基于中国英语专业学生英语笔语语料库(WECCL)和美国九十年代笔语语料库(FROWN),从词频分布、类联接、和搭配三个方面,利用Antconc,Foxpro,BFSU Colligator及SPSS等工具,对348个心理动词进行数据提取和统计。通过定量和定性分析,旨在揭示中国英语专业学习者在书面表达中对心理类动词的使用特点和存在的问题,帮助英语专业学生了解自己在心理动词使用上与本族语者的差距,从而更好的理解和掌握心理类动词。研究发现,在词频分布方面,通过348个心理动词在两个语料库中的整体分布,发现中国英语专业学习者在心理类动词的使用上与英语本族语者比存在显著差异。对该类动词的类符选择上有所不足,而且过度使用某些动词。且与体验者做宾语的心理动词(EO psych-verbs)相比,英语专业学生更倾向于使用体验者做主语的心理动词(ES psych-verbs)。EO心理动词和ES心理动词的词频分布在两个语料库中均有显著性差异。接着,研究分析了 20个高频EO心理动词和10个高频ES心理动词的类连接,发现对某个动词的类联接使用差异是对某种或某几种类联接的过度或过少使用造成的,中国英语专业学习者对ES心理动词的类联接使用要优于EO心理动词。在搭配方面,与本族语使用者相比,中国英语专业学习者在搭配词上缺乏多样性,二者共同之处很少。中国英语专业大学生更倾向于使用有生性搭配词。中国英语专业学生的心理动词使用具有口语化特征。通过分析,本研究发现以上结果主要归因于词汇的熟悉度,WECCL语料库中固定话题的影响,以及语义迁移,文化迁移,中西方习惯性认知方式的差异等。
[Abstract]:"Psychological" verb is an important category of verbs, which is used to express the mental state or change of people. This study is based on the English pen corpus of Chinese English majors (WECCL) and the pen corpus of the United States of America (90s), from three aspects: word frequency distribution, class connection, and collocation. By using the tools of Ant concordant Foxpro BFSU Colligator and SPSS, the data of 348 psychological verbs are extracted and counted. Through quantitative and qualitative analysis, the purpose of this paper is to reveal the characteristics and problems of the use of psychological verbs in written expressions by Chinese English majors. To help English majors understand the gap between their use of psychological verbs and their native speakers, so as to better understand and master psychological verbs. The study found that in terms of word frequency distribution, Based on the overall distribution of 348 psychological verbs in the two corpora, it is found that there are significant differences in the use of psychological verbs between Chinese English learners and native English speakers. And overuse some verbs. And compared to the psychological verb "EO psych-verbs", English majors are more inclined to use the psychological verb "es psych-verbs).EO" and the "es" psychological verb as the subject, which have significant differences in word frequency distribution between the two corpora. Based on the analysis of 20 high frequency EO psychological verbs and 10 high frequency es psychological verbs, it is found that the difference in the use of the class join of a verb is caused by the excessive or too little use of one or several kinds of connections. Chinese English major learners use es psychological verbs better than EO psychological verbs. In collocation, Chinese English majors lack diversity in collocation, compared with native speakers. There are few similarities between the two. Chinese English majors tend to use natural collocations. The psychological verbs used by Chinese English majors have oral characteristics. It is found that the above results are mainly attributed to the influence of lexical familiarity and fixed topics in WECCL corpus, as well as the differences in semantic transfer, cultural transfer and habitual cognitive styles between China and the West.
