【摘要】:本文依据概念隐喻理论,原型范畴理论,意象图示理论,及射体界标理论,以动词SET为例,从认知语言学角度对一词多义现象展开研究。本文数据源于牛津高阶英汉双解词典,朗文当代英语辞典,剑桥英语学习词典,朗文高阶英语词典及Brown语料库。采用定量与定性分析相结合,进行个案研究的研究方法,选取SET作为研究对象。首先,从各个权威字典中搜集出SET的23条义项,接下来从Brown语料库中随机抽取416个关于SET一词的句子样本进行研究。其次,作者依据概念隐喻理论把SET的所有义项及有效数据分为字面意义(基本义及增添)和隐喻意义,并通过Brown语料库统计出其各个义项的数量及比例。并再次,笔者从认知角度对增添和隐喻义进行了分类研究。本文着重分析了 SET一词的隐喻意义是如何以原型意义为基础产生的。研究结果表明,SET符合一词多义的拓展机制。从Brown语料库可以看出,SET的字面义使用频率最高;SET的增添意义可以分为七种类型;SET的隐喻意义可以从9个方面进行分析;依据不同类型的目标域,SET的隐喻意义又可以分成四类。最后,从理想化认知模型出发,将SET词义分成四种认知模型进行分析。本文从认知语言学角度印证了 SET意义延伸是以原型意义为基础通过隐喻意象图示等认知手段获得的,进一步验证了认知语言学的理论。一个词的多个义项是语言历时发展过程中,人类体验现实世界的结果,从而得出人类不断的认识世界是以体验哲学为基础,用已知熟悉的事物去认识未知不熟的事物。
[Abstract]:Based on the conceptual metaphor theory, the prototype category theory, the image representation theory, and the theory of projective boundary markers, this paper, taking the verb SET as an example, studies the polysemy of a word from the perspective of cognitive linguistics. The data are derived from Oxford High order English-Chinese Dictionary, Longman Dictionary of Contemporary English, Cambridge English Learning Dictionary, Longman High order English Dictionary and Brown Corpus. Using quantitative and qualitative analysis, a case study method is adopted, and SET is selected as the research object. First, 23 meanings of SET are collected from various authoritative dictionaries, followed by a random sample of 416 sentences about the word SET from the Brown corpus. Secondly, according to the Conceptual metaphor Theory, the author classifies all the meanings and valid data of SET into literal meaning (basic meaning and addition) and metaphorical meaning, and calculates the number and proportion of each meaning by Brown corpus. Thirdly, the author classifies addition and metaphorical meaning from the perspective of cognition. This paper analyzes how the metaphorical meaning of SET is based on archetypal meaning. The results show that set accords with the expansion mechanism of polysemy. It can be seen from the Brown corpus that the added meaning of set can be divided into seven types: the metaphorical meaning of set can be analyzed from 9 aspects, and the metaphorical meaning of set can be divided into four categories according to different types of target domain. Finally, according to the idealized cognitive model, SET is divided into four cognitive models. From the perspective of cognitive linguistics, this paper verifies that the extension of SET's meaning is based on the prototype meaning through cognitive means such as metaphorical imagery representation, which further verifies the theory of cognitive linguistics. The multiple meanings of a word are the result of the human experience of the real world in the course of the development of language, and it is concluded that the human being's constant understanding of the world is based on the philosophy of experience, and the unknown unfamiliar is recognized by the known familiar.
