《世界末日成因：你不曾想了解的事》（节选）英汉翻译实践报告

本文是一篇英译汉翻译实践报告。翻译原文选自英国地质灾害领域专家比尔·迈奎尔（Bill McGuire）所著的《世界末日成因:你不曾想了解的事》（A Guide to the End of the World:Everything You Never Wanted to Know）。该书共五章,翻译实践所选章节为第一章和第二章。第一章主要讲述了地球历史和世界上主要自然灾害的主要特征。第二章主要讲述了全球变暖及其对人类生活的影响。译者选择这本书主要有两个原因。由于该文本目前尚无中译本,加之译者感兴趣于科技文本,故选取该文本作为译本。在翻译过程中,原文本的科技术语和大量并列句以及复合句是对译者的一个挑战。译者从词汇和句法两个层面呈现出这些难点。词汇难点包括科技术语的翻译和文化负载词的翻译;句法难点包括定语从句的翻译和并列句及复合句的翻译。针对词汇难点,译者主要采用加注法和意译法;针对句法难点,译者主要采用前置法、后置法、拆译法、重构法、反译法和增词法。通过此次翻译实践,译者提高了英译汉能力。而且,此作品的翻译可以加深中国读者对主要自然灾害的了解。
