中国中学生二语写作中定状语使用发展研究

【摘要】：本文以依存语法为理论基础,以中学生写作中作为修饰成分的语法关系,即定语关系和状语关系为研究重点,对中学阶段初一至高三六年内句法应用能力的发展特征进行分析讨论。该研究的语料源于国内某省13所初高中共计342篇课堂限时作文。本研究的主要发现有：1)中国中学生英语作文中的总体平均依存距离随着年级的升高大致呈非线性增长趋势,但唯独在高一阶段显著下降；2)中国中学生写作中定语平均依存距离的发展总体呈上升趋势,但有一处波动出现在高一阶段,因学生经历了中考后缺乏足够的语言输入；3)在所有的定语依存关系中,定语从句的平均依存距离变化对整体定语的平均依存距离影响占绝对主导地位；4)后置定语依存方向比例的发展趋势与平均依存距离的发展趋势一致,随着年级的升高呈非线性上升趋势；5)中国中学生写作中状语平均依存距离的发展呈波动上升趋势,第一处波动出现在高一阶段,此时,学生使用的状语从句的平均依存距离有所下降,第二处波动出现在高三阶段,此时,学生倾向于使用结构紧凑的修饰语；6)后置状语比例随着年级的升高总体呈下降趋势,而在高三阶段存在小幅度回升。中国中学生英语作文中平均依存距离的变化体现了句子复杂程度的变化,上述现象说明不论是定语还是状语,除了在高中个别或几个阶段出现回落现象,总体呈现非线性上升趋势,这说明了学生逐步善于使用比较复杂的句型。依存方向中前置或后置修饰语比例分布变化(本研究采用后置修饰语比例分布变化)为语言分类的一项重要指标,后置定语比例总体随年级上升而增加这一现象表明学生越来越趋向于采用具有复杂结构的定语,后置状语比例总体随年级上升而减少这一现象表明随着年级的升高,学生对语篇连贯性的把握更好。本研究进一步探讨了上述发现对于句法结构发展理解和句法结构教学的启发,也希望能够为未来句法发展相关研究提供新的思路。
