翻译转换理论下的齐河黑陶宣传资料汉英翻译报告

文化作为国家的一种软实力受到越来越多的关注,而翻译作为跨文化交际的媒介,其重要性不言而喻。翻译不仅仅是语言间的转换,要想做好翻译,还需要处理好语言和文化的关系。外宣材料是为了能吸引更多人了解中国,因此译者在忠实原文的基础上,还要有目标导向。本报告以齐河黑陶相关材料的汉英翻译为例,尝试用卡特福德的翻译转换理论来描述和分析外宣文本的翻译过程。其中,层次转换体现在词汇和语法两方面;汉语中的词汇变化在译为英语时往往通过语法形式表现出来,比如名词的单复数形式及动词时态。范畴转换则包括结构转换、类别转换、单位转换和内部系统转换。卡特福德将增译、减译、重复等经验性的翻译策略提升到理论高度,为翻译实践提供了较为系统的框架和更坚实的基础。但该理论也具有一定局限性,比如卡氏理论局限于语言学思维,并且只涉及到句子及以下层级的转换,忽略对段落和语篇的分析。因此,本文作者在卡氏转换理论基础上尝试增加对语义、文化、语篇等方面的分析,以期使篇章衔接连贯,有效地传递文化内涵,增强译文的可读性。
