山西省高中英语教师语言意识的调查研究

【摘要】:20世纪70年代,随着交际教学法的流行,以形式为中心的教学和与语法有关的学科知识在语言教学领域被忽视甚至被放弃,在这种情况下,英国一批语言学家在教育领域发起了语言意识运动。Thornbury(1997:x)将教师所拥有的能够使其有效教学的潜在的系统知识定义为教师语言意识。依照Andrews(1999b)的模式,教师语言意识包括四个部分,策略能力,语言能力,学科知识和对学习者的了解。学科知识是教师语言意识的核心,语法知识被认为是学科知识的核心。语言意识包括陈述性知识和程序性知识两个层面。陈述性知识是以命题形式储存在大脑中的显性知识;程序性知识指在教学实践中如何把显性知识有效地传授给学生。研究教师语言意识有助于提高教学质量和教师专业化发展。教师语言意识具有提高课堂效率和促进反思的作用。本研究通过调查语法方面的学科知识来了解山西省当前高中英语教师的语言意识水平。研究者借用Andrews教授的测试题,对山西省11个市的262名高中英语教师进行研究。测试题包括两大部分,第一部分是语法术语,包括筛选语法术语、鉴别句子成分、描述语法术语;第二部分是语法鉴定和语法改错。研究结果说明研究对象在语法方面有困难,同时也说明,山西省当前高中英语教师的语言意识水平不高。教师语言意识对教学实践具有很大的影响,所以应该重视培养教师的语言意识。一方面职前英语教师应通过系统地学习课程,掌握元语言知识有意识地培养其语言意识。另一方面,在职教师更应该重视培养教师语言意识,精心备课,运用多种教学方法和语言技巧讲课,多参加培训,和同事们一起进行教研活动。
[Abstract]:In the 1970s, with the popularity of communicative teaching, form-centered teaching and grammatical knowledge were neglected or abandoned in the field of language teaching.A group of linguists in England launched a campaign of language awareness in the field of education. Thornbury1997: X) defines the potential systematic knowledge that teachers possess to enable them to teach effectively as teachers' linguistic awareness.According to Andrews / 1999b, teachers' language awareness consists of four parts: strategic competence, language competence, subject knowledge and understanding of learners.Subject knowledge is the core of teacher's language consciousness and grammar knowledge is the core of subject knowledge.Language consciousness includes declarative knowledge and procedural knowledge.Declarative knowledge is explicit knowledge stored in the brain in the form of propositions, and procedural knowledge refers to how to transfer explicit knowledge to students effectively in teaching practice.The study of teachers' language consciousness is helpful to improve teaching quality and teachers' professional development.Teachers' language consciousness can improve classroom efficiency and promote reflection.This study investigates the knowledge of grammar in order to understand the language awareness of senior English teachers in Shanxi Province.Using Professor Andrews's test questions, the researchers studied 262 senior English teachers in 11 cities in Shanxi Province.The first part is about grammatical terms, including screening grammatical terms, identifying sentence components and describing grammatical terms; the second part is grammatical identification and grammatical correction.The results show that the subjects have difficulties in grammar, and that the language awareness of senior English teachers in Shanxi Province is not high.Teachers' language consciousness has great influence on teaching practice, so we should pay attention to cultivating teachers' language consciousness.On the one hand, pre-service English teachers should acquire meta-language knowledge and cultivate their language awareness through systematic study.On the other hand, in-service teachers should pay more attention to cultivate teachers' language awareness, prepare lessons carefully, use various teaching methods and language skills to lecture, participate in training more, and carry out teaching and research activities with colleagues.
