自然拼读法对小学生英语词汇习得有效性的实验研究

【摘要】:词汇是学习一门新的语言过程中的根本所在,尤其对外语学习者而言。多年以来,无论是英语教师还是学生都在努力寻找学习英语单词的有效方法,但是效果并不明显,他们在词汇教和学的过程中仍然遇到许多困难。大部分学生无法正确读出单词的发音,而且他们也常常记不住单词。为了解决这个问题,找到更有效的词汇学习策略,自然拼读法被引进到了中国的英语教学中来。自然拼读法是一个关于字母与发音对应关系的体系,这恰恰与英语作为拼音文字,具有音形一致性的特质相吻合,其有效性已经在西方国家得到了证实。本研究尝试将自然拼读法应用于英语词汇的教与学的过程当中,探索自然拼读法对小学生英语词汇习得的有效性。参加研究的实验组(30人)和控制组(30人)学生均选自广州市从化区温泉镇第三中心小学的六年级学生。在实验的过程中,对实验组的学生实施自然拼读法的教学和训练并将其应用于词汇教学的过程中,而控制组的学生则继续与以前一样通过传统的方法学习单词。自然拼读法学习对学生词汇习得的有效性将通过从词汇测试,字母识别测试,语音意识测试及词汇自主学习能力调查问卷所获取的数据进行检验。研究问题包括:1)自然拼读法对小学生英语词汇习得是否有效?2)字母识别、语音意识与词汇习得是否存在相关关系?结果显示,自然拼读法对小学生英语词汇习得确实有效并且有利于学生字母识别和音素意识的提高。通过相关分析发现,字母识别和语音意识都与词汇习得存在正相关的关系,字母识别与语音意识的提高能够进一步促进词汇习得的发展。与此同时,自然拼读法还提高了学生的词汇自主学习能力。最后针对本研究的局限性提出以下建议:1)延长自然拼读法教学的时间进一步提高实验的信度和效度;2)增加大量可解码的阅读短文为学生提供更多训练的机会;3)词汇习得的其他方面如单词的运用、搭配等仍需要进一步的研究。
[Abstract]:Vocabulary is fundamental in learning a new language, especially for foreign language learners. For many years, both English teachers and students have been trying hard to find effective ways to learn English words, but the effect is not obvious. They still encounter many difficulties in the process of vocabulary teaching and learning. Most students can't pronounce words correctly, and they often can't remember them. In order to solve this problem and find more effective vocabulary learning strategies, natural spelling has been introduced into English teaching in China. Natural spelling is a system of correspondence between alphabet and pronunciation, which coincides with the English phonetic character, which has been proved to be effective in western countries. This study attempts to apply natural spelling to the teaching and learning of English vocabulary to explore the effectiveness of natural spelling in English vocabulary acquisition of primary school students. The experimental group (n = 30) and the control group (n = 30) were all selected from the sixth grade of the third center primary school of Wenquan town, Conghua district, Guangzhou. In the course of the experiment, the students in the experimental group are taught and trained in the natural spelling method and applied to the vocabulary teaching process, while the students in the control group continue to learn words through the traditional method as before. The validity of natural spelling learning in vocabulary acquisition will be tested by the data obtained from vocabulary test, letter recognition test, phonological awareness test and vocabulary autonomous learning ability questionnaire. The research questions include: (1) is natural spelling effective for primary school students' English vocabulary acquisition? (2) letter recognition, is there a correlation between phonological awareness and vocabulary acquisition? The results show that natural spelling is effective in English vocabulary acquisition and is beneficial to the recognition of letters and the improvement of phoneme awareness. Through correlation analysis, it is found that letter recognition and phonological awareness are positively related to vocabulary acquisition, and the improvement of letter recognition and phonological awareness can further promote the development of vocabulary acquisition. At the same time, the natural spelling method also improves the students' vocabulary autonomous learning ability. Finally, in view of the limitations of this study, the following suggestions are put forward: 1) to extend the teaching time of the natural spelling method and to further improve the reliability and validity of the experiment. (2) to add a large number of decoded reading essays to provide more training opportunities for students. Other aspects of vocabulary acquisition such as the use of words, Collocation still needs further study.
