英国福公司商务信函英译汉翻译实践报告

【摘要】：19世纪末,大批国外公司纷纷进驻中国市场。它们以独资或中外合营的形式在中国开展商业活动。英国福公司便是其中最早的一家国外公司,主要从事煤矿开采与经营业务。在1958年之前的半个多世纪里,该公司与在华企业负责人、商务代表、中国利益相关方以及政府部门之间进行了大量的信函与电报往来,这些商务信函与电报现为某档案馆所珍藏。该档案馆委托成都思译翻译有限公司将这些信函、电报翻译成中文。作者有幸参加了该项笔译翻译实践。本报告源于作者该项笔译翻译实践。作者以美国语言学家尤金奈达的功能对等理论作为其翻译的主要理论指导。翻译前作者对原文本进行了认真分析。作者发现这些信函除了具有一般商务信函的共同特点之外,还包含了一些法律用语、国际贸易术语等;在涉及中国的人名、地名等专有名词上,信函采用了威托马氏标音法。在对原文文本从信函用词、习语、句子结构,语篇连贯等方面进行认真分析的基础上,作者运用了增词、减词、转化与加注的翻译技巧,顺利完成了此次翻译实践。由于时间紧和缺少相关翻译经验,作者的译文尚有许多需要改进之处。此次翻译经历让作者获益匪浅。作者对此次翻译实践进行了认真的总结与反思,希望能为自己以后从事类似商务信函翻译,也为其他翻译硕士研究生今后从事翻译工作提供一些参考和借鉴。
[Abstract]:At the end of the 19 th century, a large number of foreign companies entered the Chinese market. They carry out commercial activities in China in the form of a sole proprietorship or a Chinese-foreign joint venture. Britain's Fu Company is one of the earliest foreign companies, mainly engaged in coal mining and business. For more than half a century before 1958, the company had extensive communications and telegrams with business executives, business representatives, Chinese stakeholders and government departments in China. These business letters and telegrams are now in the possession of an archive. The archives commissioned Chengdu Translation Co., Ltd. to translate these letters and telegrams into Chinese. The author was fortunate to participate in the translation practice. This report is based on the author's translation practice. The author is guided by Eugene Nida's functional equivalence theory. The author made a careful analysis of the original text before translation. In addition to the common features of general business letters, the author finds that these letters also contain some legal terms, international trade terms, and other proper nouns involving Chinese names and place names. On the basis of the careful analysis of the original text from the aspects of letter words idioms sentence structure and discourse coherence the author has successfully completed the translation practice by using the techniques of adding words reducing words transforming and annotating. Due to time constraints and lack of relevant translation experience, the author's translation still needs to be improved. This translation experience has greatly benefited the author. The author makes a careful summary and reflection on the translation practice, hoping to provide some references for his future business letter translation, and for other graduate translators to do translation work in the future.
