补译与改译：《成衣修改与裁剪》（节选）英汉翻译实践报告

　　 翻译在跨文化交际中扮演着重要角色,但译者的主体性长期以来始终受到贬低。这种情况在信息型文本的翻译中更为常见。比起富于创造性的文学文本,信息型文本重在内容传递,因此其译文基本遵循原文,译者主体性的发挥受到较大限制。总体来说,信息型文本讲求准确性和逻辑性,但本报告提出,部分信息型文本也存在语义模糊、语义缺失等问题,需要译者在翻译过程中弥补原文存在的不足,提高译文的质量。本报告主要基于服装裁剪著作Simple Tailoring and Alterations(《成衣修改与裁剪》)节选的英汉翻译实践。这是一本为初学者、专业裁缝和普通人等各类读者撰写的综合服装改制指南,内容精炼、语言朴实,总体逻辑性较强,但仔细斟酌会发现其中不乏语义错误、用词宽泛、逻辑缺失、解释不足等问题,对翻译实践构成了挑战,译者需要采用补译和改译的策略完善译文。基于对补译和改译的历史研究,本报告选择乔治·斯坦纳的阐释学翻译四步骤理论作为理论框架,论证补译和改译在翻译实践中的合理性以及译文的可行性。本报告提出了两种具体的改译方法,即语义明晰化与修正语义;还提出了三种具体的补译方法,即弥补语义不足、弥补逻辑不足与解释说明。其他译者在翻译具有类似语言特点的信息型文本时,以上补译与改译方法将提供有意义的借鉴。本报告对增译手段进行了分类,并据此对补译和改译提出了明确的划分标准;本报告也对改译进行了清晰的界定,即改译不仅包括译者对原文所没有的内容进行的创造性增添,还包括对原文词句的修改;此外,本报告提出,采取补译与改译策略并不只是为了弥补翻译损失,也可能是为了弥补和修正原文的不足,后者需要进一步研究。
