【摘要】：在中西文化交流日益频繁的影响下,许多高校加强对外宣传,纷纷开设英文网站,谋求国际交流与合作,吸引国外学生和学者。高校简介是人们了解中国大学的一个最直接的窗口,而其翻译质量则影响着国外学生和学者的选择。目前,高校简介的英译研究,主要集中在纯翻译理论,文化交际和语篇分析等方面,从系统功能语言学角度研究的较少;并且在系统功能语言学的研究方面,多数文章是单一理论的应用,例如评价理论,人际理论或语类理论,鉴于此,本论文选取三大元功能和语类这两个角度对高校简介的英译进行研究,对比分析原文和译文的相同点和不同点,然后尝试对其翻译质量进行评价。本文从中国高校简介的网站上随机选取高校简介和其英文简介各20篇,组成语料库。通过分析发现:在概念功能方面,原文和译文在及物性过程上的比例类似,因此达到了概念功能对等。在人际功能方面,原文和译文在语气系统上的比例类似,其中,在语气结构方面,原文和译文的直陈语气都属最多;在主语类型方面,原文和译文中的第三人称都较普遍;此外由于中英文时态的不同,原文和译文的时态对比被省略,因此大体来看,原文的语气系统在译文中得到了实现。但是原文和译文在情态值方面的比例却相差很大,因此原文和译文在情态上是不太对等的。在语篇功能方面,原文和译文在主位结构上类似,都是参与者主位占大多数,而环境主位相比较少,所以我们可以认为原文和译文在主位上是对等的;而在衔接手段中,中文简介和对应的英文简介却差异很大,省略手段在中文简介中是最多的而照应在英文简介中是最多的,这主要是因为中英文各自独特的语言特点造成的。此外,在语类方面,原文和译文的在语类结构上也是不对等的。本文运用定量和定性相结合的分析方法总结了中文高校简介(原文)和英文高校简介(译文)的三大元功能和语类的特点并进行对比分析,有助于丰富系统功能语言学在翻译中的应用,同时也可为高校简介的英译研究提供借鉴和参考。
