图里翻译规范理论视角下《李有才板话及其他故事》的英译研究

【摘要】：“外来译家”沙博理为中国翻译事业及对外文化交流做出了不可代替的贡献。虽然我国翻译研究界对其给予了一定的重视,但研究广度和深度仍有待提高。本文选取《李有才板话及其他故事》的英汉本为研究对象,以图里翻译规范理论为框架,采用对比、分析、推导等研究方法,从历史文化背景及译者工作、生活经验等方面对其进行了描述性个案研究,探究了隐含在译本中的翻译规范,并探讨了促使这些规范形成的原因,试图为沙博理翻译行为研究提供借鉴,同时也为赵树理作品研究开创了新视角,进一步推动了中国对外文化交流的发展。研究发现,译者在翻译实践中所遵循的预备规范顺应了当时的国家翻译政策,反映出了中国对外文化交流的时代需求。新中国成立伊始,亟待树立新的国际地位。赵树理作品描述了解放区农村生活的新面貌,其大众化、通俗化的艺术特色更得到了郭沫若、朱自清、矛盾等人的高度赞扬,因而他的作品成为了可供选择的翻译素材。沙博理个人对赵树理作品也是赞赏有加,译者的个人意愿与国家政策相符合,促成了此翻译实践的发生。另外,沙博理高超的汉语水平及其妻在文学创作上的帮助也使得直接翻译成为了可能;译者所遵循的操作规范隐含在文本微观层面所体现出来的翻译策略中。总体来看,通过增译、省略、结构重置等技巧,译文体现出了归化、意译的翻译策略,充分考虑到了目标语读者的阅读习惯。这一操作规范的形成与当时中国在国际上所处的弱势地位密不可分;初始规范体现为译者宏观的翻译倾向和译作的整体面貌。在国际社会对中国文化知之甚少的情况下,沙博理从以母语进行创作的角度对译文定位,因此,比较注重整体的“可接受性”,然而在处理主题意义理解等细节方面也兼顾到了源语语言文化规范,从而达到了两种规范制约间的特殊平衡。
[Abstract]:Sidney Shapiro has made an irreplaceable contribution to Chinese translation and cultural exchanges with foreign countries. However, the scope and depth of the study still need to be improved. This paper chooses the English-Chinese version of Li Youcai dialect and other stories as the research object, and takes the translation norms theory as the frame, and adopts the methods of contrast, analysis, derivation and so on. This paper makes a descriptive case study on the historical and cultural background, the translator's work and life experience, probes into the translation norms implied in the translation, and probes into the reasons for the formation of these norms. This paper attempts to provide a reference for Sidney Shapiro's translation study, and at the same time opens up a new perspective for the study of Zhao Shuli's works, which further promotes the development of China's cultural exchanges with foreign countries. The preparatory norms followed by translators in translation practice conform to the national translation policies of the time and reflect the needs of the times in China's cultural exchanges with foreign countries. It is urgent to establish a new international status. Zhao Shuli's works describe the new face of rural life in the liberated areas, and its popular and popularized artistic features have been highly praised by Guo Moruo, Zhu Ziqing, contradictions, etc. As a result, his works have become an alternative source of translation. Sidney Shapiro personally appreciated the works of Zhao Shuli, and the translator's personal will was in line with the state policy, which contributed to the occurrence of this translation practice. Sidney Shapiro's high level of Chinese and his wife's help in literary creation also make direct translation possible. The operational norms followed by the translator are implicit in the translation strategies embodied at the micro level of the text. The translation strategies of domestication and free translation are embodied in the techniques of ellipsis and structural reset, and the reading habits of the target language readers are fully taken into account. The formation of this operational norm is closely related to the weak position of China in the world at that time; The initial norms are embodied in the translator's macro tendency of translation and the overall face of the translation. With little knowledge of Chinese culture in the international community, Sidney Shapiro orientates the translation from the angle of creation in his mother tongue. It pays more attention to the overall "acceptability", but it also takes into account the source language and cultural norms in dealing with the details of thematic meaning understanding, thus achieving a special balance between the constraints of the two kinds of norms.
