CBI在高中英语阅读教学中的应用研究

【摘要】:阅读作为语言学习的四大基本技能之一,起着检验学生理解能力和分析能力的重要功能,同时它也是学生获得可理解性输入语料的重要来源,直接关系到学生的英语综合水平。因此,阅读一直是高中英语教学的重点和难点。近年来,随着新课改的实施与发展,以及高考改革工作的进行,阅读在高中英语教学中的地位越来越重要。然而,当前的高中英语阅读教学仍然存在教师教学方式落后、阅读材料内容枯燥、阅读文本来源形式单一等问题。为适应当前教育形式的需要,高中英语阅读教学应更新教学理念,变革教学方法,以提高阅读教学质量。“内容依托式教学”(Content-based Instruction,下简称CBI)兴起于20世纪60年代末,随后迅速成为西方教育教学研究的热点。CBI以交际语言教学为基础,将学科内容和语言形式有机结合,打破了传统语言教学将语言要素和内容人为地割裂开来的现象,是对传统语言教学的一大挑战。然而在我国,关于CBI在高中英语教学中的应用研究还比较匮乏。因此,本论文试图通过研究,将CBI与高中英语阅读教学相结合,探讨其在我国高中英语阅读教学中实施的可能性,旨在为高中英语阅读教学改革提供可参照教学思路和教学模式。本论文主要围绕两个研究问题展开:一、将CBI应用到高中英语阅读教学中能否提高学生的阅读兴趣和动机?二、将CBI应用到高中英语阅读教学中能否提高学生的阅读水平?针对研究问题,作者选取山东省济南市历城区某高中两个平行班共102名学生为实验对象,展开了为期四个月的实验研究。在实验过程中,对实验组学生采用CBI阅读教学模式,对照组则延续传统的英语阅读教学方法。本研究运用测试、问卷调查、访谈等研究方法进行数据收集,并运用描述统计、配对样本t-检验等方式对数据进行分析。最后,研究结果表明:1.CBI能够提高学生的阅读兴趣和阅读动机。问卷调查和访谈结果显示,在实行一段时间的CBI英语阅读教学之后,学生的阅读兴趣有明显提高,对阅读课的评价也从“枯燥无味”转向“颇有期待”;同时阅读动机也不再单纯以应试或完成作业为主,而更多注重提高自己的阅读能力和扩大知识范围等;2.CBI能够有效提高学生的阅读水平。通过分析学生的阅读前测和后测成绩,作者发现,在实验实施之前,实验班和对照班学生的阅读成绩相差无几,但经过四个月的CBI教学实验之后,实验班的后测成绩明显提高,而对照班成绩则变化不大;3.与传统阅读教学模式相比,CBI有许多优点。它能促进学生阅读动机发生积极改变,能够培养学生主动学习的能力,能够提高学生的综合语言水平等。但在实验过程中,CBI也显示出一些局限性,需要教师和学生的进一步改进和完善。因此,本论文证实了CBI确是一种行之有效的教学理念和教学模式,对当前英语阅读教学改革有重要参考之处。
[Abstract]:As one of the four basic language learning skills, reading plays an important role in testing students' comprehension and analytical ability, and it is also an important source for students to obtain comprehensible input data, which is directly related to students' comprehensive English proficiency.Therefore, reading has always been the focus and difficulty of English teaching in senior high school.In recent years, with the implementation and development of the new curriculum reform and the reform of the college entrance examination, reading plays an increasingly important role in English teaching in senior high schools.However, there are still some problems in English reading teaching in senior high school, such as backward teaching methods, boring reading materials, single source form of reading text, and so on.In order to meet the needs of the current educational form, English reading teaching in senior high schools should renew its teaching concept and reform its teaching methods in order to improve the quality of reading teaching.Content-based instruction, or CBI-based instruction, rose in the late 1960s, and then became a hot topic in western educational research. CBI is based on communicative language teaching, which combines subject content with language form.It is a great challenge to traditional language teaching to break the language elements and contents artificially.However, the research on the application of CBI in high school English teaching is still scarce in our country.Therefore, this thesis attempts to combine CBI with high school English reading teaching to explore the possibility of its implementation in high school English reading teaching in China.The purpose of this paper is to provide a reference for the reform of English reading teaching in senior high school.This thesis mainly focuses on two research questions: first, whether the application of CBI to English reading teaching in senior high school can improve the students' reading interest and motivation?Second, can the application of CBI to English reading teaching in senior high school improve students' reading level?In order to solve the problem, the author selected 102 students from two parallel classes in a senior high school in Licheng District, Jinan City, Shandong Province, as the subjects of the experiment, and carried out an experimental study for four months.In the course of the experiment, the experimental group adopted CBI reading teaching mode, while the control group continued the traditional English reading teaching method.In this study, data collection is carried out by means of test, questionnaire and interview, and the data are analyzed by descriptive statistics, paired sample t- test and so on.Finally, the results show that: 1. CBI can improve students' reading interest and motivation.The results of questionnaires and interviews show that after a period of CBI English reading teaching, the students' interest in reading has obviously improved, and the evaluation of reading lessons has changed from "boring" to "quite expectant".At the same time, reading motivation is no longer merely examination-oriented or homework completion, but more attention to improve their reading ability and expand the scope of knowledge. 2. CBI can effectively improve the students' reading level.Based on the analysis of the students' pre-reading and post-test scores, the author found that before the experiment was carried out, the reading scores of the students in the experimental class and the control class were no different, but after four months of CBI teaching experiment, the post-test scores of the experimental class were obviously improved.The results of the control class did not change much.Compared with the traditional reading teaching mode, CBI has many advantages.It can promote the positive change of students' reading motivation, cultivate students' ability of active learning and improve students' comprehensive language level.But in the process of experiment, CBI also shows some limitations, and needs further improvement and perfection of teachers and students.Therefore, this thesis proves that CBI is an effective teaching concept and teaching mode, which is an important reference for the current reform of English reading teaching.
