《风和日丽》翻译实践报告

【摘要】：《风和日丽》由短篇小说家罗恩·卡森所著,最早发表于美国Ecotone杂志,后荣获2016年欧亨利短篇小说奖,并被收入《2016年欧亨利短篇小说奖作品选》。作者用平实却不乏生动的语言讲述了“我”与儿子尼克的一路开向山间小屋的整个行程,字里行间不仅描绘了沿途的自然风光,还穿插了对往事的追忆及心中所感。在到达小屋后,作者又为我们展现了他们在小屋中看似平淡实则趣味盎然、温馨满满的日常生活及其他野外活动。整篇小说用简洁凝练的语言向我们展示了一幅恬淡的美式田园生活图景,而在这份恬淡中又带着一丝不易察觉的淡淡忧伤和孤独感。在翻译过程中,笔者遇到了很多阻碍。因文中涉及了许多美国本土文化及日常生活细节,还涉及到不少关于犹他州及怀俄明州的地理知识,故译者需要通过各种途径大量查询相关资料以避免错译误译。同时,文中还有大量对公路走向、行车路线及对房屋、公路、山景等事物的空间位置分布的表述,对无法实地亲历的译者而言,这无疑对其空间想象能力提出了不小的挑战。此外,小说中有很多词汇涉及了一词多义及生僻含义的运用,需要译者在翻译过程中大量查词,在众多释义中选取最恰当的词义。最后,为使目的语读者产生尽可能与源语读者相似的阅读效果,译者将在翻译过程中基于凯瑟琳娜·赖斯的文本类型理论,把源语语义和语言美感层面作为首要考虑因素,采用归化的翻译策略,以便更好地向中国读者呈现整个故事。译者希望该翻译作品不仅仅为中国读者们带来一个故事而且能够将文中别开生面的美国文化及独具特色的自然景色展现给读者,并为对此类美国文化有兴趣的读者提供一个了解的渠道。同时,译者希望该报告能对遇到同类问题的译者起一定的借鉴作用。
[Abstract]:"Sunshine" by short story writer Ron Carson, first published in the United States Ecotone magazine, won the 2016 European Henry short story award, and was included in the 2016 European Henry short story award works. In plain but vivid language, the author tells the whole journey of "I" and my son, Nick, to the mountain cottage. The lines not only describe the natural scenery along the way, but also interspersed the recollection of the past and the feelings in the heart. After arriving at the cabin, the author showed us their seemingly dull, interesting, warm, daily life and other outdoor activities. The whole novel shows us a tranquil picture of American pastoral life in concise and concise language, and in this quiet with a subtle touch of sadness and loneliness. In the process of translation, the author encountered many obstacles. Due to the many details of American culture and daily life, and the geographical knowledge of Utah and Wyoming, translators need to consult a lot of relevant information through various ways to avoid misinterpretation. At the same time, there are also a large number of descriptions of road direction, driving route and spatial distribution of houses, highways, mountain scenery and so on, which undoubtedly pose a great challenge to the translators who cannot be experienced in the field. In addition, there are many words involved in the use of polysemous and eccentric meanings in the novel, which requires the translator to look up a large number of words in the process of translation, and to select the most appropriate meaning among the many interpretations. Finally, in order to enable the target language readers to achieve reading effects similar to those of the source language readers as much as possible, the translator will take the semantic and aesthetic aspects of the source language as the primary consideration in the translation process, based on Katharina Rice's text typology theory. A domestication translation strategy is adopted to better present the whole story to Chinese readers. The translator hopes that the translation will not only bring a story to Chinese readers, but also show the unique American culture and unique natural scenery to the readers. It also provides a source of understanding for readers interested in such American culture. At the same time, the translator hopes that the report can serve as a reference for translators who encounter similar problems.
