基于句法树库的英语从句句法复杂性研究

【摘要】：英语从句具有句法复杂性,这种复杂性可以通过平均依存距离体现出来。当前,除关系从句外,学界对名词性从句及状语从句句法复杂性的研究尚未涉及,这使得对英语从句句法复杂性的研究缺乏系统性及整体性。本研究以依存语法为理论依据,以英语从句为研究对象,以平均依存距离的测量为研究手段,以2016年1月至4月间的《纽约时报》中所选取的300句英语复合句以及其中所包含的关系从句、名词性从句及状语从句各100句为研究语料,运用Excel 2013对其进行了句法标注并构建树库,对树库中英语从句的平均依存距离进行了定量计算,利用SPSS16.0对所得数据进行了差异显著性检验,并结合英语从句已有的研究成果对句法复杂性进行了定性分析。最后,依据平均依存距离,对其句法复杂度分别进行了比较,绘出了英语从句句法复杂性的连续统图表。研究发现,(1)状语从句的句法复杂性显著高于名词性从句与关系从句,名词性从句与关系从句无显著性差异,三者句法复杂性层级关系为:ACNC=RC;(2)关系从句子类的句法复杂性层级关系为:SO=OOSS;OOOS;SO=OS;名词性从句子类的句法复杂性层级关系为:SCOC=CA;SC=PC;PC=OC=CA;ESC=PC=OC=CA;OSCESC;状语从句子类的句法复杂性层级关系为:FACBAC;(3)纵观英语从句句法复杂性的连续统图表,SS的句法复杂性最低,而FAC则属最高。
[Abstract]:English clauses have syntactic complexity. This complexity can be reflected by the average dependence distance. At present, in addition to the relative clauses, the study of the grammatical complexity of noun clauses and adverbial clauses has not been involved in the study. This makes the study of the syntactic complexity of English clauses lack systematicness and integrity. This study is based on dependency grammar. Based on the theoretical basis, taking the English clause as the research object and taking the measurement of the average dependent distance as the research means, the 300 sentences of English compound sentences selected from the New York Times > between January 2016 and April and the relative clauses contained in it, the noun clause and the adverbial clause 100 sentences are studied as the corpus, and Ju Fabiao is used by the Excel 2013 to carry out the study. The average dependence distance of English clauses in the tree base is quantitatively calculated. The difference significance test is carried out by using SPSS16.0, and the qualitative analysis of the syntactic complexity is carried out with the existing research results of English clauses. Finally, the syntactic complexity is compared to the average dependent distance. The study shows that the syntactic complexity of the clause of (1) adverbial clause is significantly higher than that of noun clause and relation clause, and there is no significant difference between the noun clause and the relative clause. The three level of syntactic complexity is ACNC=RC; (2) the relationship of the syntactic complexity of the sentence class is: SO =OOSS; OOOS; SO=OS; the grammatical complexity of the noun from the sentence class is: SCOC=CA; SC=PC; PC=OC=CA; ESC=PC=OC=CA; OSCESC; the adverbial from the syntactic complexity of the sentence class is: FACBAC; (3) the syntactic complexity of the English clause is the lowest, while FAC is the highest.
