唐传奇误译探微

【摘要】：本文探析了唐传奇小说英译本中存在的一些问题。前两章主要从译者理解的角度探讨误译,第三章从译文的可理解性和生动性的角度进行探讨。从误译的内容和成因上来看,第一章探讨译者对唐传奇文本中词汇的特殊意义特征不了解导致的唐传奇译文中唐代新词、古语词、一般词汇和文化词汇的误译;第二章探讨译者对上下文语境、情景语境和文化语境的忽视体现在译文中的误译现象;第三章探讨译文中关键信息,包括关键文化信息和关键细节信息的缺失对读者阅读造成的影响,主要体现为译文的可理解度降低以及小说人物形象感和画面感的缺失。本文研究发现,唐传奇译文中的误译具有普遍的规律,一方面源于传奇文本的历史性,唐传奇作为唐代文化的产物,在语言文字上不仅带有唐代以前的语言特征,同时也带有唐代新兴的语言特征,因此译者在翻译的过程中往往容易忽视原文中的唐代新词、古语词及新兴文化,从而导致误译的产生,这也成为传奇翻译乃至古文翻译需要注意的地方;同时传奇文本属于文言文本的范畴,文言文本具有语言精练的特征,因此语境对理解文本十分重要,正是由于译者对语境的忽视才导致误译的产生;最后翻译活动不得不考虑译文读者的文化背景,译者由于缺乏读者意识也导致了传奇译文误译的产生。因此,在唐传奇翻译乃至文言作品的翻译过程中,译者应该重视作品的时代性,善于区分不同的词汇特性,正确掌握时代新词和古语词及文化词汇的含义,同时要重视语境对于文本理解的重要作用,最后要有读者意识,保留原文中的关键信息,通过补充翻译和增词翻译的方法,帮助译者理解原文,还原原文的生动性。
[Abstract]:This paper probes into some problems existing in the English translation of Tang legend novels. The first two chapters are mainly from the perspective of translator's understanding, and the third chapter is from the perspective of comprehensibility and vividness of the translation. From the perspective of the content and causes of mistranslation, the first chapter discusses the translation of Tang Dynasty new words, ancient words, general vocabulary and cultural vocabulary caused by the translator's lack of understanding of the special meaning of the words in the Tang legend text. The second chapter discusses the translator's neglect of context, situational context and cultural context in the translation, and the third chapter discusses the key information in the translation. The influence of the lack of key cultural information and key detail information on the readers' reading is mainly reflected in the decrease of the comprehensibility of the target text and the lack of the image and picture sense of the characters in the novel. This paper finds that there are universal rules in the translation of Tang legends. On the one hand, it comes from the historical nature of the legendary texts. As a product of Tang Dynasty culture, Tang Legend not only has the language characteristics of the Tang Dynasty before the Tang Dynasty. At the same time, it is also characterized by the new language of Tang Dynasty, so it is easy for the translator to ignore the Tang Dynasty new words, ancient words and new cultures in the original text in the process of translation, which leads to the formation of the wrong translation. At the same time, the legendary text belongs to the category of the classical Chinese text, and the classical Chinese text has the characteristics of language refinement, so context is very important to understand the text. It is the translator's ignorance of context that leads to the mistranslation. Finally, the translation activities have to take into account the cultural background of the target reader, and the translator's lack of reader awareness also leads to the mistranslation of the legendary translation. Therefore, in the process of translation of Tang legends and even classical Chinese works, translators should pay attention to the epoch of the works, be good at distinguishing different lexical characteristics, and correctly grasp the meanings of new words, ancient words and cultural words of the times. At the same time, we should attach importance to the important role of context in text understanding. Finally, we should have a reader's awareness, retain the key information in the original text, and help the translator understand the original text and restore its vitality by means of supplementary translation and word-adding translation.
