句法标记程度对学生译员口译质量影响的实证研究

【摘要】:在语言中,标记现象是一个普遍现象,几乎所有语言单位都可以划分为有标记项和无标记项。在句法层面上,句子可以划分为有标记的句子和无标记的句子。英语中的肯定陈述句的简单句可定义为无标记句子,而疑问句、倒装句、强调句、双重否定句以及从句等结构更为复杂、词序变化特殊的句子则为有标记句子。由于有标记项比无标记项结构更复杂,且在思维努力程度、注意力要求和认知加工时间方面更复杂,因此在对有标记的句子进行口译时,译员需要付出更多的认知努力和时间。而口译时间紧迫,译员必须在短时间内流利产出译文,顺利完成口译任务。由此看来,在时间压力下有标记的句子对译员来说更是一个挑战。基于此分析,笔者提出这样的假设:句法标记程度会影响到译员英汉连续传译的口译质量。为验证提出的假设,笔者设计了一个口译实验并邀请了30名广外二年级英语口译研究生参加本次口译实验并对其口译产出进行录音和打分。在实验中,30名受试随机分成两组,进行英汉连续传译的测试。实验结束后,笔者转写出30名受试的口译产出,从流利度、信息完整性和语言的准确性三个方面对学生译员的口译质量打分。实验数据显示两组受试的口译成绩有显著差别,而翻译无标记文本的测试者得分要高于翻译有标记文本的测试者。此外,翻译无标记文本的测试者在翻译过程中出现的停顿、自我修复等不流利现象的次数也明显少于翻译有标记文本的测试者。通过实验数据,本文提出的假设得到验证,句法标记程度对学生译员的口译质量产生影响。这种影响最直观体现在译员产出信息的全面性以及不流利现象的出现次数。
[Abstract]:In language, tagging is a common phenomenon, almost all language units can be divided into marked and unmarked items. At syntactic level, sentences can be divided into marked sentences and unmarked sentences. The simple sentences of positive statements in English can be defined as unmarked sentences, while interrogative sentences, inverted sentences, emphasis sentences, double negative sentences and clauses are more complicated, and those with special word order change are marked sentences. As the structure of marked items is more complex than that of unmarked items, and because of the complexity of thinking effort, attention requirements and cognitive processing time, interpreters have to pay more cognitive effort and time when interpreting marked sentences. But the interpretation time is short, the interpreter must produce the translation fluently in a short time, completes the interpreting task smoothly. From this point of view, marked sentences under the pressure of time are even more challenging for interpreters. Based on this analysis, the author proposes the assumption that the degree of syntactic markers will affect the interpretation quality of consecutive interpretation. In order to verify the hypothesis, the author designed an interpretation experiment and invited 30 sophomore English interpreting students to participate in the experiment and record and score the interpretation output. In the experiment, 30 subjects were randomly divided into two groups. At the end of the experiment, the author turned to write out the interpretation output of 30 subjects, scoring the student interpreter's interpretation quality from three aspects: fluency, information integrity and language accuracy. The experimental data showed that there were significant differences in interpretation scores between the two groups, and the scores of those who translated unmarked texts were higher than those who translated marked texts. In addition, the testers who translate unmarked texts also have less time of non-fluency phenomena such as pause and self-repair in the process of translation than those who translate marked texts. Based on the experimental data, the hypothesis proposed in this paper is verified, and the degree of syntactic markers has an impact on the interpretation quality of student interpreters. This effect is most intuitively reflected in the comprehensiveness of the interpreter's output information and the frequency of disfluency.
