商务英语通用语邮件中请求策略的(不)礼貌研究

随着国际贸易的发展,英语成为商务语境中首选的工作语言,被称为商务英语通用语(Business English as Lingua Franca,简称BELF)。商务英语通用语集合了跨文化交际和英语通用语的特点,成为近年来学者研究的一大热门话题。商务邮件是英语作为通用语在跨文化商务语境中的一大应用,是商务活动中常见的交际方式之一,在交换信息、促进合作和保持良好的人际关系方面发挥着重要的作用。请求是一种指令性的言语行为,在商务邮件中十分常见,说话者通过言语来使听话者实施一定的行为,这种行为通常是有利于说话者的,在商务邮件中通常表现为希望对方提供所需信息。从礼貌理论的角度来看,请求是一种威胁听话者消极面子的行为,是不礼貌的,因此说话者往往会采取一定的请求策略来帮助其减轻对对方面子的损害,使对方更易于接受这一请求。因此,对于商务邮件中请求策略的使用是一个值得注意的问题。本研究以真实的商务英语电子邮件为研究语料,采取了定性和定量的研究方法对邮件中的请求策略进行了探究。研究发现,在英语商务电子邮件中,最常使用的请求策略是祈使句,其次是非规约性间接请求策略下的可能性询问,而模糊暗示在语料中基本未被发...
