从语言属性看外语教学的工具性和人文性

【摘要】:我国学者几乎都认同于外语教学既有工具性又有人文性,同时我国各教育阶段的外语教学都把语言的人文性和工具性分在不同的课程里体现和实施教学。事实上外语教学要兼顾工具性和人文性是一个伪命题,把语言教育分成人文主义和工具主义是没有理论依据的。外语教学的人文性是不存在的,人文性内涵应是文化和人文教育:前者是语言的基本属性,无法剥离出来,即使一个科技术语也蕴藏着丰富的文化信息;后者是一种有目的的活动。外语教学的主要功能就是工具,它既可以体现在语言学习、出国旅游、学习知识等方面,也可体现在了解世界和开阔眼界的素质培养方面。因此,开展人文教育和素质培养就是工具的一种功能。在大学英语教学中,培养学生用英语从事专业学习和今后工作的能力是工具的主要作用,人文教育的功能应该融入其中,而不应专门开设英美文化文学课程来进行此目的的教学,把外语教学定位人文教育,把人文教育等同文化知识是我国外语教学应用目标缺位的必然结果。纠正我国外语界对外语教学工具性和人文性的误解有助于我国外语教学的健康发展。
[Abstract]:Almost all Chinese scholars agree that foreign language teaching is both instrumental and human. At the same time, foreign language teaching in all stages of education in our country divides the humanism and instrumentality of language into different courses to embody and implement teaching. In fact, it is a false proposition that both instrumentality and humanism should be taken into account in foreign language teaching. There is no theoretical basis for dividing language education into humanism and instrumentalism. The humanism of foreign language teaching does not exist, and the connotation of humanism should be culture and humanistic education: the former is the basic attribute of language and cannot be stripped out. Even a technical term is rich in cultural information; the latter is a purposeful activity. The main function of foreign language teaching is its tools, which can be embodied in language learning, travel abroad, learning knowledge, etc. Therefore, the development of humanistic education and quality training is a function of tools. In college English teaching, It is the main role of tools to cultivate students' ability to study and work in the future in English. The function of humanistic education should be integrated into it, instead of offering British and American cultural and literary courses to teach this purpose. The orientation of foreign language teaching in humanities education, It is an inevitable result of the absence of the target of applying foreign language teaching to the same cultural knowledge as humanities education in China. Correcting the misunderstanding of the instrumental and humanism of foreign language teaching in China is helpful to the healthy development of foreign language teaching in China.
