文学文体学视角下《边城》两个英译本的比较研究

【摘要】:文学作品的文学价值体现在内容和形式两个方面。形式通常是作者用来表达和加强主题意义和美学效果的重要途径。但在传统的小说翻译中,译者往往注重原文内容的传达,而忽略语言形式的意义及其产生的文体效果。而且,文学翻译,尤其是小说翻译的研究和批评一直是传统、主观、直觉印象式的评论和分析。文学文体学是一门连接语言学与文学批评的学科,主要关注作者怎样通过对语言的选择来表达和加强作品的主题意义和美学价值,它以语言学的方法为工具,对文学作品进行描述和阐释,从而为文学研究从主观性走向客观性建立了可能。将其运用到英译本的文体研究,有助于译者更好地认识到翻译中不同的语言选择所产生的文体价值,探究该译本是否再现原文的文体价值。这也是本文采用文学文体学的理论方法对小说《边城》的两个英译本进行比较研究的原因。《边城》是沈从文的代表作品,被认为是中国现代文学史上的佳作。基于本文对之前研究的分析发现,对其和其作品的研究很多,然而,对其作品译作的研究则相对较少。在四个译本中,其中两个译本最受读者欢迎,且研究数量远远超过另外两本,分别是杨宪益和戴乃迭的合译本与金介甫译本。同时,对《边城》译本的研究多集中在功能对等、翻译美学、描述性翻译研究、文化负载词翻译、归化异化、目的论、互文性等,缺少从文学文体学角度系统客观的分析与评论。因此,本论文将以文学文体学的理论为指导,通过细致的对比分析,对两个译本主题意义和美学价值的再现做出系统客观的评价,填补这一研究的空白。本文共分五章。第一章简要介绍了研究背景意义等。第二章回顾了文学文体学在翻译中的应用及金译本与杨译本的研究。第三章论述了利奇和肖特提出的小说文体研究方法,及重要术语。第四章从词汇、语法、修辞及句间照应四个层面,对两个译本的文体特征进行分析,并分析不同译者对它们的不同处理所产生的不同文体效果。第五章总结了译本分析的结果,并简要列举了本文研究的不足之处。
[Abstract]:The literary value of literary works is embodied in both content and form. Form is usually an important way for the author to express and strengthen the thematic meaning and aesthetic effect. However, in the traditional translation of novels, translators often pay attention to the transmission of the original content. Moreover, the study and criticism of literary translation, especially fiction translation, has always been traditional and subjective. Literary stylistics is a discipline that connects linguistics with literary criticism. It focuses on how the author expresses and strengthens the thematic significance and aesthetic value of his works through the choice of language. It describes and interprets literary works by means of linguistic methods, thus making it possible for literary studies to move from subjectivity to objectivity. It is helpful for translators to better understand the stylistic value of different language choices in translation. It is also the reason why this paper makes a comparative study of the two English versions of the novel "Border City" by using the theoretical method of literary stylistics. "Border City" is the representative work of Shen Congwen. It is considered to be a masterpiece in the history of modern Chinese literature. Based on the analysis of previous studies, it is found that there are a lot of studies on it and its works. However, there are relatively few studies on the translation of his works. Two of them are most popular among readers, and the number of studies is far more than the other two. They are the combined versions of Yang Xianyi and Dai Nadii and the versions of Jin Jiefu. At the same time, most of the studies on the translation of the Border City focus on functional equivalence and translation aesthetics. Descriptive translation studies, culture-loaded word translation, domestication, teleology, intertextuality, etc., lack systematic and objective analysis and commentary from the perspective of literary stylistics. Therefore, this thesis will be guided by the theory of literary stylistics. Through careful comparison and analysis, this paper makes a systematic and objective evaluation of the reappearance of the thematic meaning and aesthetic value of the two versions. This thesis is divided into five chapters. Chapter one briefly introduces the background significance of the study. Chapter two reviews the application of literary stylistics in translation and the studies of Jin version and yang version. Chapter 3 discusses li. The research methods of novel style proposed by Chi and short, Chapter 4th analyzes the stylistic characteristics of the two versions from four levels: vocabulary, grammar, rhetoric and inter-sentence anaphora. Chapter 5th summarizes the results of translation analysis and briefly lists the inadequacies of this study.
