回译与文化还原—《世界宗教中的梦》（节选）翻译报告

【摘要】：本文是一篇翻译实践报告。翻译报告材料节选自美国心理学家凯利·伯克雷(KellyBulkeley)的作品《世界宗教中的梦》(Dreaming in the World's Religions)中的第二章"中国宗教"(ChineseReligion)。译者通过对材料中众多涉及中国特色文化元素的回译、进行分析,阐述如何在译入语中实现文化还原。本报告所选材料《世界宗教中的梦》,展现了梦在人类历史进程中,如何与世界各地的宗教相互影响、交融,促进形成当今世界主要文化形态。译者所选的第二章"中国宗教"以中国传统儒道为切入点,加以历史记载、文学作品佐证,分析梦对传统中国文化所带来的深刻影响。回译是翻译中存在一种特殊现象。以本报告为例,在文本内容中有关中国特色文化的外文作品需要被译成中文时,译者不可避免会遇到回译和文化还原问题。本翻译报告的节选材料涉及到众多有关中国传统文化、文学、宗教以及历史的内容。本报告首先通过具体定义"文化"和"文化还原",分析目标读者的需求和接受度为前提,再以翻译文化负载词汇、诗歌、经典句子和传统故事为案例,探讨如何以不同翻译方法和策略进行回译,成功实现回译中的文化还原。本报告通过对该类型文本中文化元素的回译分析,得出以下结论:回译并不是单纯地对于原文本译文的粘贴复制,而是要具体问题具体分析,必须以目标读者的需求和接受度为标准,灵活采取翻译方法和策略才能实现文化还原。
[Abstract]:This is a translation practice report. Excerpts from American psychologist Kelly Bulkeley.Dreaming in the World's Religion. Chapter 2, "Chinese Religion". Most of them involve the back translation of cultural elements with Chinese characteristics, The material selected for this report, Dream in World Religion, shows how dreams interact and blend with religions around the world in the course of human history. The second chapter, "Chinese Religion", takes the Chinese traditional Confucianism and Taoism as the starting point, which is recorded in history and supported by literary works. This paper analyzes the profound influence of dreams on traditional Chinese culture. Back-translation is a special phenomenon in translation. Taking this report as an example, when the foreign language works about Chinese culture in the text need to be translated into Chinese, It is inevitable that translators will encounter the problems of translation and cultural restoration. The excerpts from this translation report cover many aspects of Chinese traditional culture and literature. Content of religion and history. This report first analyzes the needs and acceptability of the target readers by defining "culture" and "culture restoration", and then takes translation of culture-loaded vocabulary, poetry, classical sentences and traditional stories as examples. This paper discusses how to use different translation methods and strategies to successfully achieve cultural reversion. This report analyzes the cultural elements in this type of text. The following conclusions are drawn: the backtranslation is not a mere copy of the original text, but a concrete analysis of the specific problems, which must be based on the needs and acceptability of the target readers. Only by adopting flexible translation methods and strategies can cultural restoration be realized.
