操纵理论视角下《劝导》中译本对比研究

【摘要】:二十世纪七十年代后,众多翻译家及学者开始从文化角度对翻译展开研究。翻译从传统语言学视角转向文化角度,不再局限于语言层面。勒菲弗尔从翻译希腊喜剧《利西翠妲》的实践中,提出操纵文学翻译的三要素:意识形态,诗学和赞助人。并提出在不同时代,三要素对译者翻译活动的影响并不一样。《劝导》是简·奥斯汀最后一部完整的小说,在她去世后一年,与《诺桑觉寺》一起出版,是英国文学的经典之作,有重大研究价值。奥斯汀以细腻的笔触描写了英国十九世纪中产阶级的生活,也以幽默和讽刺的笔调对中产阶级的虚伪和势利进行了无情的鞭挞。众多学者分别从不同角度对奥斯汀其他作品展开过译本对比研究,但是目前从操纵理论角度来对比《劝导》中译本的研究甚少。《劝导》现有中译本有五本之多,本文以操纵理论为指导,选取1984年出版的孙致礼中译本和2010年出版的裘因中译本,从意识形态,诗学和赞助人三个角度探讨以下两个问题:(一)意识形态,诗学和赞助人三因素是如何影响译者对源语文本的处理?(二)两个中译本各自的特色何在?笔者在研究过程中发现,意识形态的操纵主要体现在称谓语和文化负载词的翻译中,译者自身和所处时代的意识形态不同,对译文的操纵也不同;诗学的操纵体现在句子和段落层面,彰显译者对各自时代主流诗学的理解与追求;赞助人的操纵则在文本之外。结果表明,在词汇层面,孙致礼倾向于“归化”而裘因倾向于“异化”;在句子层面,孙致礼紧扣原文结构,汉语四字格的高频率运用彰显其对汉语语言驾轻就熟,运用自如的能力,形成独有的译文风格。裘因译本忠实原文,通达顺畅,尽力再现原作风格,最大程度上为读者展现奥斯汀的反讽艺术。本文基于操纵理论对《劝导》中译本进行对比研究,并非为了甄别译本孰优孰劣,而是证实操纵理论对外国文学的汉译确有一定程度上的适用性,以期能为以后《劝导》的汉译研究和未来海外作品的“引进来”做出一点贡献。
[Abstract]:Since 1970s, many translators and scholars have begun to study translation from a cultural perspective. Translation has shifted from a traditional linguistic perspective to a cultural perspective. From the practice of translating Greek comedy Lesithroda, Lefevere proposes three elements of manipulating literary translation: ideology, poetics, and patronage. The influence of the three elements on the translator's translation is not the same. [persuasion] is Jane Austen's last complete novel, published a year after her death, with "Northanger Temple," a classic of English literature. Of great research value. Austin described the life of the middle class in Britain in 19th century with exquisite brushwork. In a humorous and sarcastic tone, they have ruthlessly lambasted the hypocrisy and snobbery of the middle class. Many scholars have carried out a comparative study of the translations of other works of Austin from different angles. However, there are very few studies on the Chinese versions of Persuasion from the perspective of manipulation theory. There are as many as five Chinese versions of Persuasion. This paper, guided by manipulation theory, selects Sun Zhi-li 's Chinese version, published in 1984, and Juin's Chinese version, published in 2010. From the perspectives of ideology, poetics and patronage, this paper discusses the following two questions: (1) ideology, poetics and patronage, how do the three factors affect the translator's handling of the source text? (B) what are the respective features of the two Chinese versions? The author finds that the manipulation of ideology is mainly reflected in the translation of appellations and culture-loaded words. The translator himself and his times have different ideologies and the manipulation of the target text is also different. The manipulation of poetics is embodied in sentence and paragraph level, which demonstrates the translator's understanding and pursuit of the mainstream poetics of their respective times, while the manipulation of patron is outside the text. Sun Zhi-li tends to "domesticate" and Qiu tends to "dissimilate". At the sentence level, Sun Zhi-li clings to the structure of the original text, and the high frequency of the use of the four-character box in Chinese demonstrates his ability to be proficient in Chinese language and to use it freely. To form a unique translation style. Join's translation is faithful to the original text, smooth, trying to reproduce the original style, to the greatest extent possible to show Austen's art of irony. This paper makes a contrastive study of the Chinese version of persuasion based on manipulation theory. It is not for the purpose of determining which is better than the other, but to prove the applicability of manipulation theory to Chinese translation of foreign literature to a certain extent, in order to make some contribution to the study of Chinese translation of persuasion and the introduction of overseas works in the future.
