《科学发现者-生物》第二十六章“节肢动物”翻译实践报告-结合目的论分析生物教材英译

【摘要】:生物教材文本属于科技英语(EST)的范畴。学术界针对科技英语的翻译标准讨论过多次,基本都围绕着"忠实准确、通俗易懂和专业规范"等展开。在翻译生物教材英语时,除了要满足科技英语的翻译标准外,还需要使译文实现教材的功能,即通过精准的术语、严密的逻辑和通俗易懂的语言达到知识传输的目的。按照弗米尔的观点,翻译目的决定翻译策略,译者在翻译实践中可以根据目的需要来决定翻译时所采取的策略和技巧,而不必追求译文与原文的对等。本文以笔者翻译生物教材《科学发现者——生物》第二十六章"节肢动物"的实践经验为基础,讨论了生物教材英语的三个"多"特征,即多专业词汇、多被动句、多栏目类名称。同时,结合目的论的三原则,即目的原则、连贯原则和忠实原则,分析译者在翻译生物教材英语的复合词和多义词、被动语态以及教材栏目名称时所采取的策略,从而达到使译文科学规范、地道得体的目的。经过分析,功能学派的目的论对应用文本的翻译(例如生物教材翻译)具有一定的指导意义,其三原则,即目的原则、连贯原则和忠实原则,在具体应用时应结合文本内容具体分析。
[Abstract]:The texts of biological textbooks belong to the category of EST. The translation standards of EST have been discussed for many times in the academic circles, which basically revolved around "faithfulness, accuracy, ease of understanding and professional standard". In addition to meeting the translation standards of EST, it is also necessary to make the translation achieve the functions of the textbook, that is, to achieve the purpose of knowledge transmission through precise terminology, strict logic and easy to understand language. The translation purpose determines the translation strategy. In translation practice, the translator can decide the strategies and skills to be adopted in translation according to the needs of the purpose. On the basis of the author's practical experience in translating the biological textbook "Scientific discoverer-Biology", chapter 26, "arthropod", this paper discusses the three characteristics of English in biology textbooks. At the same time, combining the three principles of Skopos theory, namely, Skopos principle, coherence principle and faithfulness principle, the author analyzes the translator's compound words and polysemous words in translating biology textbooks. The passive voice and the strategy used in the title of the column in the textbook, so as to achieve the goal of scientific and proper translation. The Skopos theory of functional school has certain guiding significance for the translation of applied texts (such as the translation of biological textbooks). Its three principles, namely Skopos principle, coherence principle and faithfulness principle, should be analyzed in combination with the content of the text.
