王维诗歌两英译本对比研究:图形一背景理论

【摘要】:王维是中国诗歌史上极富特色的诗人,因而他的诗歌受到中国读者及世界各国读者的欢迎。王维诗歌的英译活动也方兴未艾,对于把王维诗歌介绍到国外起了积极作用。关于王维诗歌英译本的研究,大多数学者是从美学角度分析,以诗歌的音、形、义为传统评判标准。该论文试图从认知语言学角度,特别是在图形-背景理论视角下探究王维诗歌的英译本。认知语言学是基于人们对世界的经验和对世界进行感知和概念化的方法来研究语言的科学。(UngererSchmid,2001:36)赵艳芳提出图形-背景理论是以凸显原则为基础的认知理论,是认知语言学中的重要理论之一。图形是指某一认知或感知中突出的部分,即注意的焦点;背景则是突出图形而起衬托作用的部分。从认知语言学的翻译观来看,著名语言学者王寅认为,翻译是以一种现实体验为背景的认知主体将一种语言映射转述成另一种语言的认知活动。该论文主要采用比较分析的方法,以图形和背景各自的属性特征为判定标准,对王维的许渊冲和余宝玲两译本进行分析。通过分析可得,在翻译王维诗歌过程中,要首先明确原诗所表达的主旨意境,及字里行间中所体现的图形-背景关系,从而确定原诗突出的图形和侧重点。译者要从内容和形式上再现原诗意境,就要转向诗人的认知模式,用目的语中相应的句子结构和表达方式还原原诗的图形-背景关系,从而再现原诗风格。同时通过对比王维诗歌的中外两译本,探究其差异的深层原因,一方面是读者所处的认知环境不同,即:文化和意识形态的差异;其次是由于受译者主体创造性的影响。同时,得出一系列结论,比如汉语诗歌的文学性特点可能会导致译文中图形背景的逆化,以及图形背景位置的安排会受句式选择的影响等等。该论文将图形-背景理论应用于翻译旨在表明图形-背景能够帮助译者更好地理解原文。并且指导译者恰当地用译入语传递原诗信息,展现原诗意境,为中国古典诗歌翻译提供新的方法,从而更好地传播中国文学作品。
[Abstract]:Wang Wei is a poet with rich characteristics in the history of Chinese poetry, so his poems are welcomed by Chinese readers and readers all over the world.The English translation of Wang Wei's poems is also in the ascendant, which plays an active role in introducing Wang Wei's poems to foreign countries.On the study of the English translation of Wang Wei's poetry, most scholars analyze it from the point of view of aesthetics, taking the pronunciation, form and meaning of poetry as the traditional criterion.This paper attempts to explore the English translation of Wang Wei's poems from the perspective of cognitive linguistics, especially from the perspective of graphic-background theory.Cognitive linguistics is the science of language based on people's experience in the world and their perception and conceptualization of the world.It is one of the important theories in cognitive linguistics.Figure refers to the prominent part of a certain cognition or perception, that is, the focus of attention, while the background is the part that highlights the figure and serves as a foil.From the perspective of cognitive linguistics, Wang Yin, a famous linguist, holds that translation is a cognitive activity in which one language is mapped into another language by a cognitive subject with a background of one kind of realistic experience.This paper mainly adopts the method of comparative analysis, taking the attribute characteristic of the graph and background as the criterion, and analyzes the two versions of Wang Wei's Xu Yuanchong and Yu Baoling.It can be concluded that in the process of translating Wang Wei's poems, we should first make clear the main idea of the original poem and the graph-background relationship between the lines, so as to determine the outstanding figures and emphases of the original poem.In order to reproduce the artistic conception of the original poem in terms of content and form, the translator should turn to the cognitive mode of the poet and restore the graph-background relationship of the original poem with the corresponding sentence structure and expression in the target language, so as to reproduce the style of the original poem.At the same time, by comparing the Chinese and foreign versions of Wang Wei's poems, the author explores the deep reasons for the differences. On the one hand, the readers are in different cognitive environments, that is, the cultural and ideological differences, and the second is influenced by the creativity of the translator's subject.At the same time, a series of conclusions are drawn, such as the literary characteristics of Chinese poetry may lead to the inversion of the graphic background in the target text, and the arrangement of the location of the graphic background may be affected by the choice of sentence patterns, and so on.The purpose of this paper is to show that the graphic-background theory can help the translator to better understand the original text.It also instructs the translator to use the target language to convey the information of the original poem, to show the artistic conception of the original poem, and to provide a new method for the translation of Chinese classical poetry, so as to better spread the Chinese literary works.
