[Abstract]:With the economic globalization and the continuous development of national culture, cultural exchanges between East and West become more and more frequent. Fiction is an important content of culture and a microcosm of culture in a certain period. It contains rich cultural information, has distinct cultural characteristics and important cultural functions. The study of novel translation is of great significance to cultural communication. And increasingly attracted the attention of domestic and foreign scholars and professors. In this paper, the author published a translation of "crimson snow white petals" as the text, analysis of cultural default phenomenon and make compensation. Translation is a process that transcends cultural default. Language is the carrier of culture, culture is deeply rooted in language, so translation is cross-lingual, cross-cultural communication. Translators need to overcome the dual barriers of language and culture, the latter is more challenging, the biggest cultural obstacle is cultural default. Cultural default is that the author and his target readers share the same cultural background, so some information is omitted in the process of writing, but the foreign cultural readers do not understand the connotation of the source culture and form a meaning vacuum, that is, cultural default. At this time, the translator's role is to compensate for these cultural gaps, so that the target readers can gain the same understanding and appreciation of the original. Resolving cultural defaults helps to promote cross-cultural communication. Translators must not ignore the existence of cultural default. The translator should carefully examine the cultural factors in the original text, make corresponding compensation according to the specific situation, achieve the purpose of getting closest to the original text, eliminate the meaning vacuum of the reader, and understand the cultural information conveyed in the original text to the greatest extent. In the process of translation, the translator should not only faithfully express the meaning of the original text of the novel, but also give full play to the local cultural characteristics and convey the foreign culture to the target readers to the greatest extent. To achieve the reader and the source language readers as close as possible to understand the effects and feelings. The author studies the cultural default and compensation in the translated text. Innovation lies in the novelty of the research content. This paper is divided into six parts. The first part is the translation task description, mainly from three aspects: the translation task background, the customer request and the translation meaning. The second part is a description of the translation process, including pre-translation preparation, translation process and post-translation issues. The third part is a case study of translation, which describes the theory of cultural default and its application in the translation practice of "crimson, snow white petals", the necessity of compensation for cultural default, and the principle of compensation. Strategies and methods are divided into explicit compensation and implicit compensation, and examples in translation practice are analyzed in detail. The conclusion is about the enlightenment of the study of cultural vacancy translation in the future. Alienation and domestication have their own advantages. Alienation is beneficial to the spread and reference of culture. However, in the process of compensating for cultural default, the method of domestication is more easily accepted and understood by the target language readers. In the process of translation, the translator must display initiative and creativity in order to create a good translation.
