美洲印第安手势符号初探

【摘要】：印第安手势的使用范围大致与美洲平原印第安人的自然分布一致。印第安手势符号能表达具体的概念和部分抽象概念,但对语境的依赖程度较高,且不能区分词类;印第安手势符号虽然已经相当发达,但它并不遵循我们熟悉的“语法”规则,而是使用一种自然状态的“表意框架”;印第安手势符号甚至可以构成简单的句子,却并不能区分句型,而且其句子缺乏合理的逻辑顺序。通过对印第安手势符号的表意方式、表意功能和性质的探讨,基本可以确认平原印第安人使用的手势符号是一种超语言、超方言的“图画文字”,尚不是记录语言的手势语。因此,一些西方语言学家将印第安手势符号理解为“手势语”是不对的,应称为“印第安手势符号”。
[Abstract]:The range of use of Indian gestures is roughly consistent with the natural distribution of the American Plains Indians. Indian gesture symbols can express specific concepts and some abstract concepts, but they are highly context-dependent and unable to distinguish between parts of speech. Although Indian gesture symbols are quite developed, they do not follow the "grammar" rules that we are familiar with. Indian gesture symbols can even form simple sentences, but they can not distinguish sentence patterns, and their sentences lack a reasonable logical order. Through the discussion of the ideographic way, the function and the nature of the Indian gesture symbols, it can be basically confirmed that the gesture symbols used by the Plain Indians are a kind of super-language, "pictorial characters" in the super-dialect, but not sign language for recording the language. Therefore, it is wrong for some western linguists to interpret Indian sign language as "sign language", which should be called "Indian sign language".
