《梅里亚姆-韦氏大学英语词典》中同义形容词辨析栏历时研究

【摘要】：英语词汇中的同义现象十分普遍。词典是语言学习和使用的重要参考工具,词典中同义辨析信息不容忽视。《梅里亚姆-韦氏大学英语词典》是较早设置同义词辨析栏的普通语文词典之一。该词典自1898年出版至今,修订了十一个版本。本文选取了四个版本,从历时的角度分析同义词辨析栏在这四个版本中的变化。本研究的目的在于分析该词典如何辨析同义形容词,探索构建同义词辨析栏的基本要素和方法,并尝试将基于以上分析的同义词辨析栏模式用于词典的编纂。在本研究中,我们选取了四个版本中字母H词条下的同义词辨析栏作为辨析栏宏观结构的研究对象,从每个研究版本中选取了10个同义形容词的辨析栏作为辨析栏微观结构的研究对象。辨析栏的宏观结构分析主要涉及辨析栏总数和参见。辨析栏的微观结构分析主要包括辨析栏的组成构件,每一个构件在辨析栏中的功能,以及各个构件间的关系。在此基础上,我们进一步分析辨析栏每一构件如何呈现。该分析主要从三个方面对辨析栏构件进行研究:同义词的选取,同义词的排列,以及同义形容词的辨析维度。同义词的选取分析主要涉及每个辨析栏中同义词的词数。同义词排列即每个辨析词在辨析栏中的排序。同义形容词辨析维度的分析包括辨析点和辨析信息的呈现方式。通过对比分析四个版本中的同义辨析栏,我们找出了《梅里亚姆-韦氏大学英语词典》所采用的同义形容词辨析模式。最后,我们论述了如何把这个辨析模式应用到《现代汉语词典》中构建同义词辨析栏。
[Abstract]:Synonyms are common in English vocabulary. Dictionaries are important reference tools for language learning and use, and synonymy discriminating information in dictionaries should not be ignored. [Meriam-Wechsler College English Dictionary] is one of the common Chinese dictionaries which set up synonym discriminating column earlier. The dictionary has been revised in eleven editions since its publication in 1898. This paper selects four versions to analyze the variation of synonyms in these four versions from a diachronic point of view. The purpose of this study is to analyze how the dictionary discriminates synonymous adjectives, to explore the basic elements and methods of constructing synonym discrimination column, and to apply the synonym discrimination column model based on the above analysis to the compilation of the dictionary. In this study, we selected the synonym discrimination column under the letter H in four versions as the research object of the macro structure of the discrimination column. Ten synonymous adjectives were selected from each edition as the research object of the microstructure of the discriminative column. The macro-structural analysis of discriminating columns mainly involves the total number of discriminating columns and synonyms at them. The microstructure analysis of the discriminant column mainly includes the components of the discriminating column, the function of each component in the discriminative column, and the relationship between the components. On this basis, we further analyze how each component of the column presents. This analysis mainly studies the components of the discriminating column from three aspects: the selection of synonyms, the arrangement of synonyms, and the discriminative dimension of synonymous adjectives. The selection and analysis of synonyms mainly involve the number of synonyms in each column. The arrangement of synonyms is the order of each word in the column. The analysis of synonymous adjective discriminating dimension includes discriminating points and presenting ways of discriminating information. By comparing and analyzing the synonyms in the four versions, we find out the pattern of synonymous adjectives used in Meriam Wechsler English Dictionary. Finally, we discuss how to apply this model to the construction of synonym discrimination column in Modern Chinese Dictionary.
