[Abstract]:With the development of hotel industry and tourism, the number of books on hotel management is increasing. The tourism and hotel industry in China is in a rapid development stage. It is necessary to learn from the hotel management experience of other countries and refer to the development course of hotel management in other countries so as to learn from each other and improve the level of hotel management in our country. The translation of hotel management books has become an important part of translation field. However, there are few studies on this type of translation in China. The traditional translation strategy, which is faithful to the original text, causes the translation to be obscure and difficult to understand, but it only embodies the literal meaning, and it is difficult to express the general and enlightening purpose of this kind of text. The book, "are you an ostrich or a rhea," was written by Larry Moglonsky, which introduces the current problems of the hotel industry. Discuss solutions and propose innovative ideas. The book shows a wealth of practical cases and current challenges, both senior hotel managers and interns who can benefit from reading the book. This book is a humorous and flexible book designed to provide ideas and advice to the hotel industry to provide industry management ideas and advice to the hotel industry. This paper adopts the form of translation report, based on the author's translation practice. In the process of translation, the author has encountered the problems of vocabulary and sentence structure, and solved the translation problems based on Nida's functional equivalence theory. In order to make sure that the target readers and the original readers learn the same experience in hotel management, the author uses Nida's functional equivalence theory. This theory has subjugated the idea of "text-centered theory", focused on the reader-centered, paid attention to the response of readers, and emphasized meaning rather than form. The aim is to make the target readers and the original readers understand and appreciate the translation in the same way as the original readers. Under the guidance of functional equivalence theory, the author of this report carries out practical translation activities, dealing with the original text flexibly in terms of vocabulary, sentence structure, text and style. The methods of sentence segmentation and syntactic merging are as close as possible to reproduce the spirit of the primitive and realize the principle of closest equivalence.
