《博物志》翻译实践报告

【摘要】：改革开放即将步入第四十个年头,人们的物质生活已经有了极大的提高,文化生活也日益丰富。与此同时,我们也更加渴望向世界传达我们的声音。优秀的古典文化就是我们要与世界上的其他民族分享的一项重要内容。西晋张华的《博物志》一书是中国古代为数不多且时间最早的博物学著作之一。其内容涵盖地理、历史、天文、生物、传说、礼仪等诸多方面,因此是我们了解中国古代文化和社会生活的重要依据。目前该书还没有出现任何英语译本,现存的文言文版本由后人辑录,白话文版本也屈指可数,应该引起相关学者的注意。本翻译实践对该书现存完整的十卷一万八千余字做了翻译。在翻译过程中参考了彼得·纽马克的语义翻译理论,并借鉴了阿皮亚的厚重翻译理论来翻译文化内涵丰富的部分,以忠于原文本内涵和形式的精神,对遇到的问题采用了不同的翻译策略,试图从词汇、句法和文化的层面把握翻译质量,尽可能地还原作者想要传达的真正意思。本翻译实践报告介绍了报告的背景、文本的语言风格特点和翻译过程,并结合详细的案例分析解释了翻译策略的使用。文本中的专有名词、文化负载信息和不同句型结构的翻译灵活利用了多种翻译策略,希望在忠实地传达原文内容的同时,保留原文的语言风格和形式。对整齐押韵的语句和寓意深刻的神话传说的翻译都以语言和结构简单为原则,尽可能地保留原文本独有的文化色彩。本译本对我国古典文化的对外译介做了尝试性的实践,希望能引起海内外相关学者对《博物志》一书的关注。通过本翻译实践报告的研究分析,笔者期望给中国传统文化典籍翻译活动提供一些有针对性和启发性的指导建议。
[Abstract]:Reform and opening up is about to enter the fortieth year, people's material life has been greatly improved, cultural life has become increasingly rich. At the same time, we are more eager to convey our voice to the world. Excellent classical culture is an important part of our sharing with the rest of the world. Zhang Hua's History of the Western Jin Dynasty is one of the few ancient and earliest works in ancient China. Its contents cover geography, history, astronomy, biology, legends, etiquette and so on, so it is an important basis for us to understand the ancient Chinese culture and social life. At present, there are no English versions of the book, the existing versions of classical Chinese are compiled by later generations, and the vernacular versions are few, which should attract the attention of relevant scholars. This translation practice has translated more than 18000 words of the existing ten volumes. In the process of translation, reference is made to Peter Newmark's semantic translation theory and Appiah's heavy translation theory to translate the rich cultural connotations in order to be faithful to the spirit of the original text's connotation and form. Different translation strategies are applied to the problems encountered, which try to grasp the translation quality from the lexical, syntactic and cultural levels, and try to return the real meaning that the original author wants to convey as much as possible. This translation practice report introduces the background of the report, the language style of the text and the process of translation, and explains the use of translation strategies in the light of a detailed case study. The translation of proper nouns, culture-loaded information and different sentence structures makes flexible use of various translation strategies, hoping to preserve the language style and form of the original text while faithfully conveying the content of the original text. The translation of neatly rhymed sentences and profound myths and legends is based on the principle of simple language and structure and preserves as much as possible the unique cultural color of the original text. The translation and introduction of Chinese classical culture have been done in an attempt to draw the attention of scholars at home and abroad to the book "Records of Natural Records". Through the research and analysis of this translation practice report, the author hopes to provide some pertinent and enlightening suggestions for the translation of Chinese traditional cultural books.
