[Abstract]:With the vigorous development of China's foreign trade industry, business contracts have become an indispensable and important medium for economic exchange. The correct translation of contract text plays an important role in economic communication. This will not only help us to correctly express our views and positions, but also help reduce economic disputes and promote future cooperation. The object of analysis of the translation report is the English-Chinese version of the business contract of XXX Co., Ltd. which is translated by the author. The main theory adopted by the author comes from the functional equivalence theory put forward by Eugene Nida. On this basis, this paper makes a case study at the lexical and syntactic levels, and summarizes the translation strategies which can serve the translator and improves the translation efficiency and translation quality to a certain extent. At the lexical level, Nida believes that the primary task of translation is the transmission of the information content of the source language. If formal equivalence cannot achieve functional equivalence between the two languages, it should be adjusted in form. For this reason, the author adopts provincial translation. Translation strategies such as augmentation and translation solve these problems in order to achieve functional equivalence between the two languages. At the syntactic level, the author mainly uses the four translation steps proposed by Nida, namely analysis, interpretation, reorganization and testing, to guide the case analysis of passive voice and long sentences in the original text. Analysis is to analyze the surface structure of the source text from grammatical to semantic aspects. Interpretation is to translate the analyzed information from the source language into the target language. In addition, semantic adjustment and structural adjustment will be involved in the process of interpretation. In the process of adjustment, it includes the addition of context, the redistribution of semantic components, word order, single plural consistency, ellipsis, active structure and passive structure, etc. Reorganization is the re-organization of the transmitted information to meet the requirements of the target language. The author reorganizes the translation from the main elements and characteristics of the style, and the test is to see if the translation is qualified after the formation of the translation. Nida believes that the focus of the test lies in the reader's reaction to the translated text. Therefore, the author invites people with a professional background in English to revise the translated text in order to verify and guide the translation results more objectively. This paper is divided into five chapters: the first chapter is the description of the translation task, including the introduction of the original text and the process of translation; The second chapter is the guiding theory (functional equivalence theory), including the general development of functional equivalence theory and the application of functional equivalence theory; the third chapter is functional equivalence at the lexical level; the fourth chapter is the functional equivalence at the syntactic level; The fifth chapter is the conclusion.
