[Abstract]:The mission statement, as an important strategic tool for the organization, answered the questions of the "What is the enterprise" and the "What should be" and directed all economic activities of the enterprise. In the background of today's economic globalization, more and more enterprises seek overseas market, and mission statement translation becomes an inevitable task. However, in the past, the research of mission statement mainly focuses on the field of management, and few people discuss mission statement translation. Therefore, this paper will analyze the mission statement translation from the angle of the correlation theory, and try to provide some reference for the enterprise to translate its mission statement. The association theory is proposed by Wilson and Sperber, and it is considered that the "express reasoning" communication model is the essence of human and human communication behavior. The expression refers to the communication behavior of the speaker, and the inference refers to the communication behavior of the listener in order to identify the intention of the speaker's information. In the course of the communication, the speaker thinks that the express stimulation of oneself is related to the listener, and the obedient person also thinks that the stimulus is associated with oneself. The association theory holds that the individual in the communication will automatically pursue the best association, choose the best context to carry out the inference, and make the processing effort and the obtained effect to achieve the best balance. As a cross-language, cross-cultural communication, translation also follows the general principle of communicative action. Therefore, the theory of association can explain and guide the translation practice to a great extent. Based on the theory of association, the translator is a two-"express reasoning" communication, and the translator has to make an effort to seek the best association of the source language and to achieve the understanding and understanding of the source language; on the other hand, to convey to the translation reader the best association between the cognition and the understanding of the source language. The essence of translation is the process of seeking the best correlation between the cognitive context of the source language and the cognitive context of the translation. Based on the association theory, through the text analysis, the author finds that most of the mission statement translation can effectively convey the original author's intention, but there are still some translations that cannot be reproduced by the original author, The main reason is that the translator does not take into account the differences in the cognitive context and the cognitive context of the source language. The research has found that the restriction of the cognitive context to the translation of mission statement is mainly reflected in the three levels. At the linguistic level, the Chinese mission statement and the English mission statement are different in terms of word, syntax and text structure. The Chinese and English mission statement also has a focus on the nine elements, the Chinese mission statement focuses on the stakeholders, and the English mission statement value the customers, products or services. On the face of the cultural level, China's collectivism and the high power distance culture, the American individualism and the low power distance culture are embodied in their respective mission statements. Therefore, the translator should deal with these differences effectively, so as to achieve the best correlation between the cognitive context of the source language and the cognitive context of the translation, that is, the accessibility of the source language reader and the translation reader in the case of reasoning is the same, which will need to follow the principle of such distance as the inference space. By way of illustration and analysis, the author finds that the principle of the equal distance of the inference space can effectively guide the translator to deal with the differences in the context of the cognitive language and the context of the cognitive context, and the differences in the cognitive and cultural context can be treated by the complementary principle of the inference space. The above two guiding principles can guide the specific mission statement translation, and the effect of the original text in the source language reader is the same as that of the translation reader, and the best correlation is realized. Finally, due to the limited ability of the author's research, there are some shortcomings in this paper. First, the text of the mission statement in this paper is limited, so that the scope of the translation of the mission statement is not detailed. Secondly, the author makes an analysis using the correlation theory only, and does not use other translation theories to carry out the verification. This also provides room and opportunity for me to continue to study the translation of mission statements in the future using other theories.
