操纵论视角下《屠

　　厄普顿辛克莱作为揭黑幕作家,其代表作《屠场》在20世纪初曾轰动美国社会。它以现实主义的写实手法如实记下了资本主义在其发展过程中为积累资本对工人的残酷压迫,并曾有力地推动美国社会变革。该作品出版后不久,美国于1906年通过了《关于纯净食品和药物法》并昭告全国。小说多次写到工人的罢工斗争,《屠场》也因此被一些学者誉为美国第一部无产阶级小说。这部小说在中国已被译介多次,尤其在20世纪30年代达到高潮。20世纪80年代出现了翻译研究的文化转向。勒菲弗尔的操纵论则是翻译研究文化派的一个著名理论。勒菲弗尔将翻译看作是对原文本的改写,而一切改写,无论其意图如何,都是对一定意识形态和诗学的反映,并借此操纵文学使其以某种方式在一个特定社会里发挥功用,这样就打破了只局限于语言层面的传统翻译观念,从而转向翻译背后的文化层面。勒菲弗尔认为翻译受一系列翻译外部因素的限制和操纵。除了意识形态和诗学,影响翻译的因素还有赞助人。意识形态影响译者对译本的主题选择,翻译方法的选择和细节处理;诗学作为社会文学标准的总和,对翻译中语言的运用有着重要影响;赞助人则通过控制意识形态对翻译的出版和发行起到重要作用。本文在操纵论指导...
