论信息结构的双重系统及其对英语句法结构的制约

　　英语句法结构构建的信息理据,须从语言系统和认知系统这两个层面来同时探讨。两个系统对信息结构的常规要求是符合已知信息在前新信息在后的认知规律,即焦点后置原则。本文所说的语言系统既指语言静态的句法结构赖以成立的规则系统,同时也指制约语言动态使用时句法结构构建的规则系统。认知系统则是指人的大脑中所包含的所有背景信息和知识积累。两个系统均对英语句法具有一定的制约作用,可直接影响句法结构本身的成立或在一定上下文中的修辞效果。在语言系统中,已知信息的表现形式包括重复、替代和复述,这是已知信息显性特征的体现。而在认知系统中,判断信息类别的标准包括说话人对其熟悉度、其与语言系统中已知信息的相关度、说话人对信息所代表实体的掌控度及其运动度,程度越高越可能成为已知信息。其中相关度主要通过语义蕴含和情景蕴含来体现。以上是认知系统中已知信息隐性特征的突出表现。大多数情况下,语言系统中的信息结构是认知系统中的信息在语言系统的投射。但在以上两个系统中已知信息和新信息的判定也可能存在不一致的情况,换言之,在某些情况下认知系统中的已知信息可以用作语言系统中的新信息,最典型的例子就是比较句。相反,语言形式上的新信息也可...
