本文为It’s So Amazing一书的翻译实践报告。该书为美国出版的儿童性教育读本,旨在教给儿童科学的性教育知识。由于性教育话题在中国的敏感性以及该书的目标读者为儿童,笔者从接受美学理论的角度出发,总结出在翻译过程中要解决的三个重难点。即翻译要符合儿童语言的特点;翻译要符合儿童形象思维的特点;翻译要符合文化差异的特点。针对这三个重难点,笔者根据接受美学理论中“以读者为中心”这一原则,通过借鉴前人的经验以及自己的翻译实践经验,采用了以下翻译策略。第一,针对儿童的语言特点,多用叠词和语气词;第二,针对儿童形象思维的特点,在翻译中采用比喻和拟人等修辞手法来阐释对于儿童来说难以理解的概念;第三,针对中美方文化差异,包括中西方性教育阶段的不一致以及语言、宗教等方面的差异,笔者采用了转换和省译的策略。
